Arch needs to be benched

Continuing to do the same thing and expect different results is idiotic. Sark’s coaching career is on the line. He needs to prove Texas’ problem is Arch related, not his.

Starting a different QB will take some of the focus off of Sark as well. And perhaps trying something different might be the spark to help Texas get back on track.

I honestly think Arch is done at Texas. Wish he luck in his future football career, just can’t be at Texas anymore.

Have you been watching the games? Our OL is not good and Arch is constantly under pressure. There's not a QB on the planet that can put up great numbers under those conditions. Last season the OL finally gelled and Arch looked great. This new OL hasn't gelled yet, and it shows. They can't pick up a blitz if their life depended on it, and every opposing defensive coordinator knows it.

I heard an analyst's comment during a different game that this NIL/transfer era has resulted in poor OL play because the players don't have time to develop as a unit. Makes sense. Also reinforces how important high school recruiting and player development is for OL players. The challenge is keeping them around to develop rather than transfer for a payday.

Arch holds the ball too long which exasperates the OL problem. Why not try another QB that may be able to think quicker on their feet?

If you don’t bench Arch with his flaws, how can you bench any other player with theirs?

Every QB will try to extend plays when the reads aren't there. Is that holding the ball too long? Mahomes and other skilled QBs do it routinely. A difference with Arch and this OL is that when that happens, the pocket has usually collapsed and there's no where to go to buy time. Or there's a free rusher who never got touched. With even an average OL, Arch will excel again.

Arch is not the problem! An offensive line with no cohesiveness and predictable play calling are the problems. Our offensive linemen are all good athletes and talent is not the problem either. They look like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off when confronted with exotic stunts and blitzes and I don’t know how you fix that this far into the season. I think the only hope is to get Arch out of the pocket and run faster developing plays. He can’t just be a stationary target for defensive coordinators to aim for.

Sark is not helping:

After Texas’s 30-6 win over UTSA, Sarkisian criticized Manning for over-relying on his legs, noting that Manning "fell in love with his legs a little bit tonight."

Following the dirt burgler debacle, Sarkisian said, "I would like him to run it a little bit more."

I've been calling for KJ Lacey to get a shot primarily because Arch is too slow to make a decision and very often misses the correct throw. However, I'm concerned that Sark will have KJ just as confused as Arch by the time he actually does see the field this year or next.

Arch is playing awful. Are there other issues contributing to that fact…?absolutely.

The biggest issue is Sark. His offense is terrible. I’m not smart enough to know why but IF he is actually an offensive savant then maybe his scheme is too complicated.

We’ve seen 2 “generational QB’s” torpedo their careers here. Were the scouts just wrong on both? Or did they get worse playing in Sarks offense?

If Sark lets Lacey have a shot and he has the same issues (holding the ball too long or making terrible decisions) the answer will be clear.

My only question is how many games will we lose before we try something different. Other than possibly Arkansas I’m not confident we will beat anyone else on our schedule.
