RHP Gavin King of Middle Tennessee State has committed to the Longhorns

Tuesday was the last day that a player could file the paperwork with the university to be put into the portal.

So, names could appear on Wednesday or Thursday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, hornsports seemed to be the main site, that Larson was in the portal.

I liked Larson for being willing to play 1st base during the last part of the season. He just didn't have very many good at bats when he came up. Hope the best for him, but he probably needs to work on being at 1st base and at the plate.

His stats from last year won't blow you away and frankly aren't that good. But he was coming off Tommy John surgery and was a different pitcher by the end of the season. He's 6'7, 205.

Texas Baseball secures a commitment from former UCLA outfielder Payton Brennan Monday evening. No. 8 ranked player in the portal. MLB could be a threat here. Power hitter.

Texas received a surprise portal pickup tonight (Monday night) from former UCLA OF Payton Brennan.

He is a nice get, but he could get drafted this weekend in the MLB.

If he doesn't get drafted where he thinks he should or doesn't get a good signing bonus from the team: then Texas might have added the best piece to a portal group so far. Plus gives Texas a 5 player group with 2 freshmen that should be making it in.

I'll give brief thought now on the MLB. We might get a few surprises after the draft this weekend. I go over in a more information in the baseball tread for 2026 and beyond on Wednesday evening or Thursday. But we didn't lose that many and probably only 1 that the staff didn't want to lose in the portal (Rummel). But 2027 is a whole another story.
