2026 PORTAL

Below is CTJ's assessment of the OU portal class. lol

I've watched the guys you are picking up and it looks like a growing collection of spares. That's great if you're cheering for a used tire shop, but it seems like a tenuous position for a fan of a football program.

-WKU OL (Caleb Nitta) - spare following in the likes of Kennesaw State guys from last year. He couldn't cut it for PT at a weak VaTech program. Transfers to WKU and scores a PFF of 69 and you guys celebrate.

-Oregon CB (Dakoda Fields) - Oregon shoved him out with an exit interview. Spare.

-Florida TE (Hayden Hudson) - Dude caught 30 passes for 250-ish yards and 2 or 3 tds this past season. He's not exactly a great in-line blocker, although that's where he plays mostly, and he's not a real passing threat. I thought when y'all fired Finley, the profile you were seeking might actually improve. Nope.

-Arkansas RT (E'Marion Harris) - He started for Arkansas, but his 2nd season of starting yielded a 58-ish PFF grade. Spare.

-Virginia WR (Trell Harris) - He had a breakout senior season and put up good numbers, including a number of explosives, and he did it as P4 level. Not a spare.

-Texas WR (Jaggy McJaggerson) (Livingstone) - The name says it all. He'll drop a bunch of passes and look like a buffoonish baby giraffe on any rout that isn't a fly pattern, but man, he can catch a deep pass if given space. You brought in another guy like that a few years and he finally had a decent season this year, at Miss State. Spare.

-CSU TE (Rocky Beers) - Bounced around 3 G6 schools putting up middling numbers. Decided to join OU mostly to watch his sister play basketball, I think. Spare.

-CSU RB (Kelly Avant) - Couldn't crack the starting lineup at shitty Tulsa, so he went to shitty CSU instead. Rushed for 420-ish yards and caught for another 250-ish. Role playing APB type. Now he's going to crush it in the SEC? Right. Spare.

Now that I've loaded this up for you, how do you feel about your portal class so far?

I believe almost all of those schools have a new head coach, which makes sense. The one exception that jumps out at me is Colorado, probably not a good sign for Deion, or Colorado moving forward.
I would normally agree, but Deion uses the portal for his recruiting more than HS recruiting. So, Colorado is stuck with portal recruiting untill a change is made and even then?.

So, we are posting one of our boosters thoughts after he has talked to his friends from other schools boosters? Interesting 🤔

Last year after losing their two big stars they went 1 and 8 in conference, so that strategy clearly isn't working so far.

Players taken in the portal sometimes only have one year of eligibility left, so I would expect a school with lots of portal additions the previous year to have less people entering the Portal.

Given their record, and all those portal entries, I'm thinking they must have some really bad dynamics in the program. Either poor development, or a toxic environment.

Colorado was really bad before Deion arrived. Now they are spending way more money, and the result isn't very different. FWIW they do get allot more attention.

It's funny to think back to the Colorado fans thinking that coach Prime would dominate the B12, and then the B1G would accept them with open arms.

I don't know that he's a booster but I do know he is well connected and normally has very solid takes.

His post that I posted was made on an OU forum as he was talking directly to them.

I bet these kids will be stalwarts of society when their football careers end.

I've heard that we're still talking with an OL, but have no news on that. We might be done.
I believe grad transfers can still enter at anytime. Maybe if someone graduates in May they could still add someone. Most likely down though, but if Seymore doesn't get the year then they could.

No the grad transfer loophole closed. No more portal entries unless a Head Coach leaves.

From Google AI
NCAA graduate transfers are student-athletes who have completed their bachelor's degree with remaining athletic eligibility, allowing them to transfer and compete immediately at another Division I school. While they can enter the portal at any time, they must still adhere to sport-specific, end-of-season windows, and must be enrolled in a graduate program.
