I'm a big fan of the sport and actually watched the game. As you stated, they got hot at the right time and played some great ball. When they beat Nebraska (who everyone thought was going to win it), I said then they have a great shot of winning it.
They lose 9 seniors, including several of their key players. Will be interesting to see if they hit the portal hard.

He's always been a punk. I live 22 miles from Kerrville and my kids went to high school at the same time. Everybody knew what a little prick he was. His daddy always bailed his ass out of trouble and that happened a lot.

It was still 11-2. They got that. There have been equivalent 11-2 seasons but not worse. But we were the better team. We proved that on the field.

Given the totality of their personnel losses heading into the portal period, plus what they’ve spent on this 2026 class, there’s almost no way they have enough to spend in the portal for what it would take to reload. The money guys are not stupid for ATM and Elko isn’t either. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re telling themselves that they’ll develop the youth, be smart and picky in the portal and regroup with an 8-4 season that catapults them back to the playoffs in 2027.
They were gifted an unbelievable schedule this year. They get the two gifts in South Bend with the dropped XP and the flagrant holding no-call. Then, they face Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, and LSU all right in the midst of structural program collapse. Missouri with a 3rd string true freshman QB and whatever the fuck was going on with South Carolina’s program this year. Just insane shit where opponents were committing suicide in front of them at every turn.
Next year, no way that happens. The 2026 schedule and their personnel losses guarantee nothing regarding 8-4 or better but they think that’s their absolute floor.

Aggy friend who would know says Marcel Reed has made a fairly ridiculous NIL request that has the staff in a tizzy. No way they let Reed enter the portal so they'll probably have to cough it up and reduce funds to others.
