*****GAME THREAD: No. 9 Texas @Florida*****

OTF publishes a snap count for all players.

LB Brad Spence, who has been a real asset to the defense and is not listed on the injury report, did not play a single snap Saturday.

Safety Williams only had about 3 plays. He is still not over the ACL issue.

Connor Stroh should never play for Texas again unless its special teams. After three years, to be this bad, you just can't keep investing in him.

OTF says Neto has officially checked out. They would be surprised if he sees another snap this season.
CJ Vogel: "there is no one less eager to enter a huddle on the sideline or less involved in conversations on the sidelines than Neto. If he sees another snap this season I would be surprised."

Nick Brooks played every snap of the 2nd half. He diid okay for someone who doesn't play the position much. But OU wiil eat his lunch.

No snaps for James Simon or Jerrick Gibson. Why? Our running game sucked so logically you'd think they'd try someone else. Boggles the mind.

I came into this season with optimism, but also with a case of reality. I knew Oline would be a major step down from last year because 4 of 5 were unproven. I thought having Arch back there would hide some of the flaws, but his lack of confidence and their weakness has just enhanced each other. I understand now why Cujoe was ahead of Baker in camp. Baker is just not very good. Hopefully Stroh doesn't see the field anymore. Keep Brooks there and let him grow. WRs, besides Livingstone, have a hard time getting good separation. Time to play the young ones, Locket, Daylon M., and Ffrench. Locket has all the tools and can be a difference maker, imo (See Dallas Winston). This offense needs to hit more quick hitters instead of waiting for slow developing crossers and posts/flags. The Oline is just not equipped for that right now. Get the ball in space to the WRs.

On defense, I've been disappointed with both Simmons and Hill. Based on last year, those guys should be dominating every single play. Too many times I've seen Simmons "come close" but be late. Hill has not been the same hill. I love Taaffe, but this backend needs a hard hitting safety and a ballhawking one. Might be time to go with Filsaime and both Williams back there.

Too many questions marks on both sides of the ball.
Yesterday Hill was jogging rather than running.

My grades for the offense:
QB - B-
RB's - Incomplete
OL - A big fat F
WR - C
Arch had to improvise because of the crap OL
RB's couldn't get going because of the crap OL
WR's had a hard time separating from their DB's because of Arch's scrambling due to the crap OL
Flood has his work cut out for him.

It's all my fault. I felt giddy one day in the spring or early summer and posted here about how happy I was we finally had a good OL coach, plenty of depth, and recruiting looked good. I must have jinxed everything. I shall sprinkle holy water on my phone, sing Eyes of Texas three times, and say the Texas state pledge 2 times to remove the curse

ESPN spent the entire offseason hyping Arch and Texas. Now they are happily trashing Texas which started with the loss to Ohio St.
This was/is expected. Texas is a team most of the country loves to hate. Its easy engagement farming for the media, just like it was in the off-season. The world we live in, unfortunately.

We're just going through the growing pains of a young QB and OL. Replacing both at the same time is proving problematic. We may not make the playoffs this year, but I feel next year we could barring portalling of starters or potential starters.

Well, Texas just made every one of them look like idiots for picking Texas #1 and Manning for Heisman.

Thats not Texas' fault. Thats on them. But they are showing some ill will toward Texas now.

Agree. I find it amusing that there is no accountability with their predictions - only fault with Texas.

I remind my orange blood friends to remember this next spring and summer. Don't buy the firewater the media tries to sell and hype. Games are won on the field, not on the talking heads' shows, podcasts and media. They don't know any more than anybody else. If they did, they would be in Vegas and WEALTHY.

They got their clicks and ultimately their $$$ from the narrative in the offseason. They dont care if they look like idiots, because now theres a new narrative for the same team that keeps the engagement and $$$ coming in.

I wasnt blaming Texas for anything. Sadly, the world we live in (and the media) also doesnt care about truth or objectivity as long as it drives clicks, and Texas is a big driver of their faux outrage needs. All we can do is shake our heads 🤷‍♂️

My wife and I are dumping the Disney/Hulu/ESPN bundle because of their nonsense.

Regarding the line.... Left Guard is by far the biggest issue. Second is center I guess... I watched our RT and thought he had some terrible plays, but I guess he graded out fairly decent....

Hutson started for the better part of two years at left guard. And he's not very good at center. I simply don't understand why they don't move Robertson into starting center - where he has played in big games, and slide Hutson over to left guard? Maybe there's a reason.... I'd like to hear it.

Does anyone else think that we actually run in too many substitutions on defense? I know we're real proud of our depth and all.... but I've never seen a team run in 3-5 players every other down. Particularly in the front 7. Certainly there's something to getting into the flow of the game? I'll look out there in crucial moments and Simmons is on the bench. I love keeping people fresh and all.... but scrambling in new packages every down seems counter-productive.

Hey SHA!

At some point something happened (at the site or with my work computer) that disabled my ability to get on Hornsports. After several tries, I got frustrated and stopped trying.

Things have changed here... I still can't just pull up the forum threads and read them...it brings up options like "your forums" "search forums" "unanswered threads...." I don't like it but nobody asked me. Now get off my lawn!

I missed the fellowship here.... good times and bad.

I'm sorry for the difficulty you're having with getting to Hornsports. Hopefully that can get resolved or already has, based on your appearance here. Just glad to have you around again. I always enjoy your takes.

I wonder why Daniel Cruz isn't getting a look at center? He was supposed to be the future there.

Agree. All I've heard is how good he is and has a mean streak. I know he's had some playing time, but not much.

My computer crashed several years ago and I lost several of my years on this site. I had to start all over again. Went from Dillohorn to Dillohorn1.
