I attended the Cotton Bowl game that year when Texas beat Ole Miss12-7.

Would I be wrong if I thought there was more to the story as to why you singled out the 1961 team?
That Texas team was on the list provided in previous post. That team goes under the radar as one of the great Texas teams. Texas was rated #1 until Jimmy Saxton was kneed in the helmet after tackle by TCU defender. TCU upset Texas 6-0; thus, dropping Texas out of top spot. Saxton finished third in the voting for the 1961 Heisman Trophy, receiving 81 first-place votes and 551 points. His total yardage (846) and average yards per carry (7.9) were both higher than the Heisman winner Ernie Davis.

Ole Miss won national championships in 1959 and 1960, Ole Miss was favored in every game throughout the 1961 season. Texas finished #3.

I was a freshman then and saw that cockroach knee Saxton in the head while he was sitting on the ground after a long run. I've seen some dirty late hits in my time, but that was the worst ever.
Still makes me angry just remembering it.😡

Okay, now I'll explain what I meant by my comment that I thought there might be more to the story.

You picking out the 61 team seemed pretty random and it made think that perhaps you played on that team.

AKA dominant. But we honestly haven't played an offense above a C- grade so far. Michigan and ou have turned out to be terrible offenses. We take a big step up on Saturday. Will really get to see how good we are.

I think our offense vs their defense tilts heavily toward Texas.
Our defense vs their offense tilts slightly toward Texas or could be a push.

I agree.

We gotta get pressure on Beck and avoid letting them get pressure on QE3. I wonder how much his injury history is in his head when he gets hit. He's a fighter though and glad he's our QB but gotta keep him clean as best we can.

I really really hope we start the game very successful and score 10-14 pts the first quarter.

Well hell, I'd like a 35 pt blow out and some fries. lol

I hate close games when the Horns are playing. I love close games when anyone else is playing.

I’m hoping they can get Simmons and Hill rushing Beck at the same time.
That is the reason we lost to Washington last year IMO. No pass rush.
Georgia has a good team. They almost came back against Bama. Which was a hell of a feat.
We need that pass rush. If we can get some timely sacks we will win

This whole thing has blown up. But Ewers (thtough his agent) has said it isn't true and he is worried about Vandy.
Agree on it being false but don’t agree they were hacked. Just an easy Cop out.

Some cliff notes from another website . . .

1. Kern will return to punting duties this week
2. Gibson is healthy. He saw limited action because we needed good pass blocking against Georgia.
3. Some technical issues some of our players suffered from last week are apparently fixed now.
4. Wingo is starting.
5. Bond and Makuba will get two weeks to heal up.
6. Lefau will start ahead of Gbenda
7. They expect something good to happen on special teams this week.
