Would someone be able to tell me how the below makes sense when rating QB? Morton with a lower passing percentage, lower yards per attempt, 3 ints and 0 TDs has the highest QB rating? Worthy who didn't complete 1 pass has a higher QB rating than Arch? Is this common core math at its finest?

BTW, I got this off ESPN

Texas

Quinn Ewers 17/261967.51120.0
Arch Manning 2/5306.0002.6
Xavier Worthy 0/100.0003.6

Not sure but according to the stats I came up with

84.7 rating - Ewers
23.8 rating - Morton

Passer rating is comprised of four components: completions, yards, touchdowns, and interceptions. Each component is divided by attempts to measure efficiency and is multiplied by a coefficient to help weight the component within the overall formula:

  • Completions: (completions / attempts - 0.3) * 5
  • Yards: (yards / attempts -3) * 0.25
  • Touchdowns: (touchdowns / attempts) * 20
  • Interceptions: 2.375 - (interceptions / attempts) * 25

Thanks. I went and checked this morning and it's still there. Originally they had Ewers at 19 something but raised it a point. Worthy having a higher one than Arch w/o completing a pass is strange. Guess the ESPN dude was drunk and/or high that night!
