agree... like Milroe, Card, or Buechele, MM would/should transfer. The offense would be set if QE stays. It’s on him. He calls the offense. All Gas, No Brakes remember. And the defense needs to stop giving cushion.
At least he’s identified the problem, now fix it
the decision between MM and the Golden child has already been made, what might get interesting is to see if AM gives QE a run for QB1 in spring and summer camp...If Sark gets greedy and overplays his hand he might end up with the same situation that Summon did when he had all the blue chippers on campus and lost them allIf that were to happen, I could see MM entering the portal and Arch being QB2 for a year before taking over the reins as a RS Soph. Or, if MM stays, he's going to be in a dogfight with Arch for QB2.
Now if X, Mitchell, and Sanders were to stick around for another year with QE, the passing game would be sick.
I highly doubt Sark wants to break in a new QB when he has one already broken in and playing at a high level. Now, getting some quality game reps when the game is no longer in doubt is another thing. The problem this season is that no lead has been safe so neither backup has gotten those kind of reps. MM just got thrown into the fire and survived, but obviously isn't ready to be QB1 just yet.the decision between MM and the Golden child has already been made, what might get interesting is to see if AM gives QE a run for QB1 in spring and summer camp...If Sark gets greedy and overplays his hand he might end up with the same situation that Summon did when he had all the blue chippers on campus and lost them all
You are missing what I’m saying. The issue is sark and his trying to coast with a 20 pt lead. It isn’t about personnel. Whoever is playing his offense should be pushing the defense to defend the entire field, not just what is in front of them.agree... like Milroe, Card, or Buechele, MM would/should transfer. The defense on the other hand needs some portal help but that has nothing to do with QE staying or leaving
agree 100%. I think there is a bigger issue: game management. I've been saying for a while that Sark needs to groom & mentor an OC. I think he LOVES the mental challenge of calling plays more than anything else - a game within a game. This is his third HC job and needs to step back and be a head coach. I'm not against all the 4th down attempts but if he were not so zoned in on play calling maybe he would realize taking the points is what is needed. He could monitor and inject whenever he thinks he needs to but having his head buried in the playcard is not good overall, IMOYou are missing what I’m saying. I wasn't here then. However, Jimbo would have been better than Charlie. No doubt in my mind.Remember when many on this board wanted us to empty the vault to get Jimbo before we got Charley Strong ?
Sark is the ONLY one to get in PK face, he gives the defense a 20 point lead and they dont hold it, thats not a Sark problem that a PK problem, this aint Boise St or Washington where the offense was scoring 40. He is stuck with PK this year but this is two years in a row where the defense cant maintain leads , maybe Sark need to go shopping for a DC that will put a shut down championship defense on the field. PK definitely needs to shore up that secondary and somehow fix the mental/communication breakdowns that allow teams to come back. But, Sark also needs to figure out how to score more points. If he's the offensive genius that everyone says he is, we should be scoring 40+ a game with all the weapons we have. 0u scored 59 against West Virginia. When will we blow someone out a la All Gas, No Brakes?Sark is the ONLY one to get in PK face, he gives the defense a 20 point lead and they dont hold it, thats not a Sark problem that a PK problem, this aint Boise St or Washington where the offense was scoring 40. I think defense does have a problem but maintaining leads is an offensive problem too. In the 3rd quarter instead of snapping the ball with 15 seconds in the play clock take it down to inside 5 seconds. Also they were terrible in 3rd down and short. 2 for 9 in 4 yards or less. When you are not possessing the ball in the 3rd quarter its easier for the defense to get tired in the 4th. I am not saying defense doesn't have issues because they do. But the kstate and tcu comebacks were more on the offense. Turnovers for the kstate game and no possession and sucky short yard situations in the tcu.Sark is the ONLY one to get in PK face, he gives the defense a 20 point lead and they dont hold it, thats not a Sark problem that a PK problem, this aint Boise St or Washington where the offense was scoring 40. And I am not against a new DC but sarks offense is to blame also. And he is the head coach so I expect better offensive unit
Defense has improved year over year with PK, just like the offense has.Sark is the ONLY one to get in PK face, he gives the defense a 20 point lead and they dont hold it, thats not a Sark problem that a PK problem, this aint Boise St or Washington where the offense was scoring 40. Defense has improved year over year with PK, just like the offense has.
We have the #1 3rd down defense in the nation, after being terrible at this very thing last year. We are also an elite rushing defense. We continue to struggle against the pass for a variety of reasons, lack of DE pass rush, lack of elite DB talent/experience, lack of aggressive play calling and aggressive play by the DBs (Sark called out these last two things in his press conference).
I expect this defense, with no coaching changes, will continue to make improvements next year as our pass rush and DB talent/experience improves. PK and co can continue to improve their play calling and players can continue to improve their execution and play in games.
Making major changes at coordinator positions is a big reason we had the lost decade. No need to pull the plug on PK.
