He’s not a Day 1 NFL starter but why can’t he develop further in the NFL? I think he’s a lock in the 1st or 2nd round right now if he plays well the rest of the year and we don’t lose more than one game.

I think he'll be serviceable in the NFL the same way Gilbert and Simms were.

I agree with you that the defense has regressed. More concerning is the lack of effort. At least in the example you sited that's on the player not coaching. Both need to improve.

We're about to find out what we're really made of without Quinn. Maalik or Arch need to step up.

Elite teams are deep at all positions to be able to adjust after injuries. Texas is deep at several positions, but the secondary isn't one of them. There are certainly some young guys there with a lot of potential, but aren't necessarily ready for full-time action. It's going to take a couple more years of excellent recruiting to build an elite team. Fortunately, Sark has shown that he's an elite recruiter so should be able to get it done.

Its hard to get it out of my mouth but we are not playing like a top ten team. We have regressed on defense or have been exposed as not being as good as we all thought. We have NFL guys on the defense and got gashed by Houston. Not good. No way to be a sunshine pumper on this. I do not know what is wrong or if there is anything going on in the locker room but these kinds of performances eventually catch up and you lose to a team that you should beat. Proceed with caution over the next few games because my gut tells me we will lose to k-state or TCU if we play like this.

I missed most of the second qtr but from some of the postgame, it sounds like we got too comfortable and began subbing too frequently after building the lead. IMO, the time for liberal subbing has passed. Sub in the twos and threes in the second half but continue to pound opponents into submission first.
