I for one see a plan to build in the trenches, and I know this program is being rebuilt (finally) the right way. Are there going to be growing pains ? Yes. Do I think wholesale changes need to be made ? Hell no. Let them build, this is still a very young team. This team lacks depth in some very key positions. No team dominates with this many underclassmen playing such key roles. Not many Seniors on this team, and many fans wanted to bail on Mack especially after couple of them Oklahoma games. Simply it takes time, if Texas had bailed on Mack 2001~2009 may never have happened.

Good on Matt.  Although, it would've awesome to see him say, "Who the hell does this kid think he is.  I'm gonna do everything in my power to take back the QB1 spot".  We all know that is what he is saying on the inside.

Can you please list the very key positions where depth is needed.

I get what he is saying and I'm pretty sure he means quality depth.  Off the top of my head the OL, LBs, Edge and S positions are ones that need quality depth.  You can make the argument that OL has the depth now, but all of them are in the same inexperienced boat so it is not at a high quality level right now.  Next year, if they keep all of them, is a different story.

With this portal now, I am going to be interested to see how much quality depth a team can have. A lot of these kids nowadays won’t hesitate to leave if they don’t see playing time fairly soon. We signed 7 quality offensive lineman last year but the reality is several are going to transfer. And we have several quality lineman committed this year. It’s going to be interesting to see how it shakes out as far as keeping quality two deep. Maybe the NIL big dogs (us) might do better with it if the backup is getting paid better than a NIL little dogs could pay. A lot more to think about now that the game has changed……portal/NIL etc……

Totally agree.  I think it's going to be harder to have sustained quality. In years before you could stockpile guys and build/mold them into your style for quality depth.  A vast majority of OL at the top programs, like Bama and Ohio St, don't see the field for at least 2 years .  With the portal, it's going to be very difficult to do that.  On the flip side, you have an opportunity to reshape rosters quickly.

With most poster opinion of Card might list QB.?

There’s something more here than growing pains.  Ewers overthrew 16 receivers in one game.  He misfired on 5 yard outs.  He wasn’t checking down and got rid of the ball the first sign of pressure.  Looked like a completely different player. I don’t have the answers - but it isn’t road jitters.

The idea that a game like that is to be expected is quite odd IMHO.

KState is 2 weeks away.  Players have to get ready for the next game.  Fans on a chat forum really don’t.
Colt in a loss to aggy his freshman year: 17/28 for 160 yards, 0 TD, 3 INTs

Colt in a loss to K-State his sophomore year: 19/39 for 200 yards, 1 TD, 4 INTs

Young QBs (even the greats) have bad games.

Hudson is graduating in the spring and has indicated he will hit transfer portal.   I think.
