Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

I wonder if NTG is coming around on being excited about him , or is he going to stick with his skepticism since Red was the 1414 rated recruit.

I think Sarks comment a few weeks ago was he wanted to see more consistency from him. From Ewer's comment that no longer sounds like an issue.
My position has always been, and still is, that the deck is stacked against players rated that low. Not that there won't be exceptions every so often. See D'Onta Foreman.

As far as coming around on Savion Red, I still want to see it on the field in real games.

TFB says we're better off at kicker than we were last year.
To be honest with you, I did not think Dicker was all that reliable.  He had 2 really important, pressure kicks that I can remember (OU and Kansas), but other than that he was pedestrian as a FG kicker.  Nothing taken away from those kicks because they were huge.  I thought he was much better as a punter overall.

That is exactly what TFB said about Dicker. They think we upgraded, no matter who gets the job between the two. Basically he made his name on an OU game.

He wasn't reliable.

May have two kickers. One for FGs and oneto kick off.
Yea I don’t see why everyone is acting like it’s the end over this FG kicker situation. All I heard Sark say in presser is he is confident in punter and kick offs but hard to say how good FG will be until they are under the lights with 100k in the stands. Hard to simulate that…… didn’t take that as he is worried about kickers by what they are showing in practice or anything

I don't know that I agree with this. Dicker was 60 of 79 (75.9%) in FG's and 206 of 210 (98.1%) on XP's. That seems pretty good to me.

Dawson was 59 of 79, Stockton 58 of 77, Ward 58 of 78 and Mangum 50 of 73.
