Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

The year before Baylor played for the Big 12 title, then graduated 19 seniors and lost their coach to the NFL.

2020 was a rebuilding year with a new coach and CV19 BS wreaking havoc. Baylor only blew 1 decent lead against Iowa St. They never had a 3 score lead against 2 ranked teams and blow it back to back with 1 yd. in the 4th qtr.

You had to have thick skin at Shaggy Bevo. Too many here consider this their safe space.

I've ventured over to Shaggy Bevo before. More than few loose screws over there, lol. Never seen a discussion board before that is as useless as Shaggy Bevo is. It looked like to me that the only requirement to be a member there was that you couldn't know shit from shinola.

You don't need thick skin here. You literally thought it proper to fire a head coach after six games and with a winning record. I cannot put into words how much of a doofus that makes you look like.

So to summarize your little story there, Aranda coached them up in two years and are now competing for a title.

Again, you would have fired him after six games, perhaps sooner since he never had a winning record in his first year.

Obviously, you missed the point entirely. It wasn't about Aranda, he was just the example I used. The point is your knee-jerk mentality would have never seen the Baylor you'll see Saturday. Doing what you want to do is a program-killer. Please tell me, who in their right mind would even interview for this job knowing that they may get fired after six games and while having a winning record?

There would be line around the block, like always. At this point in his career, he's not supposed to be learning and practicing, he's supposed to be executing. He didn't walk into a broken program, just one looking to take the next few steps up. You may be slow to evaluate a coach, I am not. This is chess, not checkers.

We'll see how this plays out over the next few years I guess. So far it's looking like Tom was doing better..

On what planet would there be a line around the block with legitimate (not high school or jr college coaches) candidates?

Tom would have made Rice a close game, beat Tech with a FG in the final seconds, and lose to TCU again.

You can do what you want, but there's really no need to respond. We seem to be repeating the same things and I'm having to find different ways of saying the same things.

Good luck with your posting, enjoy yourself here. I'm going to decline to participate with you further.

Come on man, what good is a forum if we all agree on everything? That is an echo chamber. It's OK to agree to disagree.

On the subject of who would come here:

11. Texas

Marketability: A (9.5)

Texas fans are all around the country, but their apparel isn’t just on those devoted to the Longhorns.

Recruiting: A+ (10.0)

If you cannot recruit to Texas for football, you have no place coaching FBS football. The Longhorns are likely filling out their 2016 target list already.

National Exposure: A+ (10.0)

With Texas being at the forefront of the Big 12 conference along with Oklahoma, its successes and failures will be well-documented.

Conference Cred: B (8.5)

Texas continues to sit at the head of the Big 12's table. Unfortunately, two of the conference’s big name programs have departed.

Expectations: Level 5 (+1 point)

Longhorn fans have high expectations and they should. A proper coaching staff should be able to waltz in and put the Longhorns in position for a BCS bowl every year.

Total: 39 points

You're judging on checkers results. Chess is a "think 5 moves ahead" game. Seven games isn't thinking five moves ahead. Two years minimum would be the equivalent of 5 moves ahead.

And as far as the Tom was doing better comment....you be trippin'. I told you to take that quaalude.

No we don't. He's all ya'lls. I have him on ignore.
C'mon SHA, you have a hell of an offense and home field advantage. Your defense is well rested.

JD is really Mike Leach. He wears you out running up and down the field and into the stands, but his defense is suspect.

He'll try ball control, but eventually, repeating the same plays over and over will be his downfall. Gotta give him credit for being relentless though.

Thanks, I think of myself more as a Houston Cougar in the glory days (well almost) rather than a pirate. For real 100 points and no defense. Pure entertainment with the Run & Shoot. Made hero's out of QB's like Andre Ware and David Klingler who only fit the system and bombed in the show. Like Vince. Great memories. Changed the college passing landscape forever. Doomed by the blitz.

Go Horns, Go Astros!

I had no idea I was here to play a game. I've made my points and supported them with facts. Facts didn't matter and I've lost interest. Let him fire his wife for all I care. lol

Diarrhea is relentless, so in that sense, yeah.

Can we stop yet with all the Bijan is the best player in America stuff?

He hasn't been the best running back in our 4 losses.

I'm not a hater. His talent is being wasted between the tackles.
