Steve Sarkisian announced during his weekly press conference that he was making a QB switch. Casey Thompson will start Saturday's game against Rice after coming off the bench to lead a pair of scoring drives last week at Arkansas. Sarkisian also said Card will play.

On the decision, head coach Steve Sarkisian had this to say:

"Well I think Casey has performed well... In the Louisiana game, yeah I think three drives and scores 10 points. Came in against Arkansas, put 14 points on the board.  Bottom line is, it's not always about how you execute every play, it's about are you maneuvering the offense down the field to score points. And I think Casey has put himself in a good position to do that."

Hudson Card will plays as well, as was mentioned by Sarkisian at today's press conference.

glad to see this but we won't be able to take much away from a win over Rice.

He didn't. He likely had this planned all along.

I just hope UT beats Rice...............and I'm not kidding.
There wasn't much difference in the Rice/Arky score and the Texas/Arky score, and Arky scored more points on us.

I like the move.  I don't think we learn too much from this.  We beat rice at home if one of the walkon QBs starts.  Ok, maybe not.  It'll be interesting who starts against tech and ou.

We know Casey will do well against rice.  So if he falters against tech, we have a big question of who gets the start against ou.  We don't want to be there.

Just remember fresh legs and a tired defense = 2 scampering TD.    Let's see how he starts the game.?

Letting Casey start against Rice. What would be the downside?
You take live snaps from your fantasy starter?

You lose a chance to rebuild the confidence of Card who had it destroyed in FayetNam?

I mean, how many reasons do you need? lol

Sark is "letting" (lol) Thompson start because Card stunk the place up. Thompson scored TDs when given the chance.

Are you getting a door prize or steak knives if Card starts? lol
