2020 Recruiting Board/Thread

Okay, spoke to my friend this evening. Lots of good stuff.

– The recent run on commits is enabling the staff to circle back and revisit some other recruitments that most think/thought are lost. Namely White (LSU) and Jaxon (OSU) and another OSU commit named Ransom. All three are very much in play, despite the commitments. Staff is trying to get them in for visits. Ransom is a name I didn't expect to be on this list, but he is.

– Two things he's very excited about . . BOTH lines. The OL is working more like a machine, mistakes are greatly reduced from the past years and we're moving people. The DL is young, feisty, and big. Coburn is a monster. We have big guys on the ends who can fly for their size.

– Injuries are starting to worry staff. So far, damage is minimal but it could get worse. They will not change their practice intensity despite the injuries.

– Said Casey Thompson is quietly coming along. Said he's not ready now, but isn't so far off. Encouraged by the improvement, just since camp began.

– Junior Angilau is the talk of the OL. He outworks everybody and is sharp. Shows leadership.

– I asked about our defense. He agreed that he thinks we do have our fastest defense is some time. But also said we're more experienced than some would think. He said just because they haven't started much doesn't mean they haven't gained experience.

– Thinks we'll land another one this coming Friday. :)

Thats it for now.
Who would you guess is this Friday? Iv been out of the loop guys but can’t wait for Saturday!

Been out all summer with family. But I'm back and going to try and start posting more. Smith-Njigba is a freaking stud. He is an absolute take and he could honestly play any WR position. He is Garrett Wilson-like.... He's not huge, he's not a bunner, but he is a ball playing jack. If the ball is in the air, Jaxon is coming down with it. I've seen him up close and personal a few times.

There is very little, if anything, that you can take seriously from any poster on Surly. And saying "very little" is giving them much benefit of the doubt. The only thing you will read on Surly that is worth reading is when someone posts premium content from another site.
Their aggy board is pretty damn hilarious and their posters' takes on realignment is oftentimes interesting, too.

If we think Ransom or Ringo are in play then I'm surprised we're taking Eaton now. Maybe staff expects more attrition than we've been assuming.

Ringo is the longest of long shots. If Ransom visits this fall things could interesting. It’s an interesting gamble by the staff if they take Eaton considering the numbers.

Daniel, in ur opinion, do you think we get Alford without Eaton?

i am just not seeing it with Eaton. He isn’t bad but he isn’t elite. I would say maybe boundary safety but he is not physical enough. I would say field safety but he is no way fast enough. He is an ok boundary CB that might be able to jam a WR at the line but I don’t think he can flip his hips and stay with him. You just can’t put him on an island as a field CB. A the same time , I’m not saying he will give up a TD every play either, just he is just below good in all categories.

I think we get Eaton Friday.

Eaton is fast. His speed is one of the things that stick out about him. He's a little raw in technique but thats fixable (coachable). There's a ton of potential with Eaton and he will most definitely redshirt to get those skills down before he hits game time.

We will add another DB after Eaton, but only if his name is Ringo.
