This one is a little more unique, but not all that surprising. Rowland was unseated by freshman Cameron Dicker this season, and probably wasn’t going to see the field afterwards.
Rowland had a shaky career at Texas, after signing with the Longhorns as the top kicker in the JUCO ranks.
In his career at Texas, Rowland hit just 61% of his FG attempts (11/18), but nailed all of his XP attempts. Rowland gained the reputation of being shaky from 40+ yards, which is why Tom Herman went for it on fourth down so much in 2017; it costed Texas some games.
Rowland is a senior and a likely candidate to become a grad transfer.
