Anthony Cook will officially visit Texas on September 29th. Texas plays ISU on Thursday that week, so there won't be a game for him to see.

First reported by Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.

I actually like that.  He can spend lots of time with the coaches and players without the distraction of game prep and gameday.  I know a game has the pageantry and acivities, but this could have a more personal touch.  Still think it's a longshot.

Unless you lose to Iowa State on Thursday.

........

We would never lose to Iowa State......nvm I suffer from selective amnesia  ;)

Well, we did lose to them the last time we went to their place. lol

– Cam Rising: Spoke with a source close to Texas QB commit, Cam Rising (Newbury Park, CA) and I have been told that Rising will take an official visit to Arizona State this weekend.

This shouldn’t be a cause for concern though. Source also said that Rising is fully locked in to Texas and is, in fact recruiting for Texas. As a quarterback, I’ll give you three guesses who his number one target is but you’ll only need one and it reminds with Raylen Maddle.

Don’t be surprised to see Rising take a few more visits but again, this appears to be more like we are seeing with guys like Ayodele and a few other commits who just want to enjoy the process. – (Super K)

– Maureese Wren: As I mentioned yesterday, Texas has begun taking some interesting in 6’3 220 lb Arkansas ATH commit, Maureese Wren (Mesquite, TX). The Horns are looking at Wren as a possible linebacker offer.

Yesterday Wren spoke with player personnel director, Derek Chang. Wren and Chang spoke about the recruiting process and Texas’ offer process. Wren also tells me that Texas plans to have coach Todd Orlando get out to a game in the next week to see Wren in person. – (Super K)

– Team Note | QB Reps: We know the official position coming out of the program is that Shane and Sam are splitting first team reps with more than half being taken by Shane.

Speaking to a source, I’m told that Sam is actually taking more of the first team reps right now. Now, this could simply be an indication that Shane is still not taking as many total reps as Sam but it definitely sounds like the staff is trying to make sure both quarterbacks are getting first team looks.

As such, whether Shane is healthy or not, it’s probably anyone’s guess who starts against Iowa State. – (Andrew)

– Badara Traore: As expected, Texas is going to look at the JUCO ranks for some help on the offensive line. In case you missed it, Texas offered JUCO OT, Badara Traore (ASA College). Hope to have more with him later.

I think he meant "rhymes" instead of "reminds".  So Rising is recruiting Jaylen Waddle.  :)

Was wondering about JUCO help on the offensive line. Good to hear.

– Rondale Moore: There was a lot of madness for awhile regarding the slot WR position in Texas’ 2018 class with Justin Watkins, Jaylen Waddle, and Rondale Moore. Watkins decomitted when Moore picked Texas in late June. Now there is a lot of smoke that the distance to home factor could be playing a role in Moore’s commitment to Texas. The main school looking to flip Moore is Purdue.

Like I reported recently, Purdue’s HC Jeff Brohm was a star QB at Moore’s HS (Trinity HS in Louisville, KY). The fact that people at Moore’s school love Brohm, and the fact that Purdue is much closer to home is weighing heavily on his mind. Moore is also set to visit Purdue this weekend. I talked to someone close to him and they didn’t say he was planning to flip on the visit but that he’s “weighing his options and is going to see how the season plays out”.

I was told that Moore would like to visit Texas again before making his final decision but doesn’t have a visit set up yet. Ohio State is another school that he really likes, but I’m not sure he’s a take for them right now. – (Andrew)

– Coaches On The Road: During the bye week, Texas coaches will be on the road to see some recruits.

Atascosita (TX) ’19 LSU 5-star OT commit Kenyon Green told me that OL coach Derek Warehime will be at his game tonight. Green is the #1 OT in the state of Texas and can be a legit Day 1 contributor when he gets to college, and is a guy Texas will need. He’s been committed to LSU for almost a year, but is taking a very hard look at schools like Texas and Texas A&M. He was in Austin for the San Jose State game.

Tim Beck will have a busy Friday, as he will check in on Centennial (CA) QB Tanner McKee. He’s set to officially visit Texas on October 7th.

Beck will also see QB commit Cam Rising that evening. – (Andrew)

– Injury Note | Josh Thompson: ICYMI, CB Kris Boyd was suspended for the first quarter of the Texas-USC game. Davante Davis stepped in his place for that quarter. I was hoping to see some of freshman CB Josh Thompson in action. As there was a lot of hype around him coming out of fall camp, and that he may even pass Davis as the #3 CB. So I checked with a source recently, and Thompson suffered a meniscus injury last Wednesday. I was also told he’s likely out until at least the Kansas State game on 10/7.

Thanks for always posting theSe! Saves me from going to brainiacs page. "See how season plays out" umm is Purdue even relevant?
You be the judge. So far, . .

Purdue lost to #11 Louisville by 7 in the opener, 35-28.

Beat Ohio 44-21 the next week, as they should.

Beat Mizzou, 35-3, at Mizzou.

Michigan, by comparison . . .

Beat a horrible Florida team, 33-17 at Jerryworld.

Beat Cincy, 36-24, which is down a little this year, in Ann Arbor

And eased by Air Force 29-13 in Ann Arbor. The AF game was still in question entering the 4th.

IMO, this game is a toss-up, but I give Purdue the advantage playing at home. And Rondale Moore will be there :(
