CBS Sports: With Charlie Strong's exit certain, Texas in desperate need of direction

Texas in desperate need of direction

I remember about 2 years ago, I awoke to read a response to a comment I had made not just about the Athletic Dept but the entire University similar to this. Those replies were laced with pejoratives, swear words and outrage. Now my remarks went beyond TEXAS and discussed some of the serious higher education challenges facing America.

Oh lordy did that raise the ire of some of the school apologists.

I actually love the arrogance of the "TEXAS. .  .. what we do here changes the world". . .  .every great University should have such a view.   Or why be a great university.

Now excellence seems to be politically incorrect and we are raising a generation of apologists. . .hopefully we have taken step 1 to change this but the goal should not be mediocrity. . . .

And with rumors that LSU is going after the best young HC in college football.  . . .we see TEXAS floundering.

I'll let you compare Mack's last three seasons at UT with Strong's. Tell me again what mess he "corrected"?
Yeah,

That was an odd remark.

And CFS showed he's not really that good a defensive coach.  upon further review, he was blessed at UL with great talent. . .now he recruited them but did not seem to be able to "coach up" his TEXAS kids.

Good is the enemy of Great.

It's really easy to settle for being good instead of striving for greatness.
