Post Game Thoughts

I don't wanna kick a man while he's down, but I keep reading "what a great guy Charlie is" so many places. How many of you actually know him? I mean, was a he sparking that Louisville regent's wife or not? We'll never know and most of us don't know Charlie - at all.

Did he want what's best for his players? Absolutely. Does that make him particularly unique? I don't think so.

Yeah, the change of culture wasn't about toughness. I think the way he disciplined players and held them accountable for their actions was a huge culture change that needed to happen in the program. I think the comparison to McWilliams is accurate. I'm sure Charlie understood the risks when he took the job. It is still sad to see it end this way regardless. We all rooted for him. Like it has before, charlie just couldn't turn the corner and the next coach up will reap the benefits of his talent. That's just how it goes sometimes. Charlie will be a great DC somewhere, but I'm not sure I would take him as a HC right now
I agree that Charlie is a good guy, and has shown to be a good football coach over the years

On one critical side of the discipline scale, I would say he did a very ineffective job.  Our penalties, killer penalties stopping our drives, extending our opponents drives, being in wrong positions, not knowing who they should be defending....continual side line penalties and warnings...fully on the coaching...

Not being ready with player package shifts...burning timeouts

We too often looked like the Keystone Cops (for younger posters, google it)

Funny, I didn't see any Staff Predictions this week so I rule that you didn't "officially" take Kansas +24  ;)

Just kidding of course, all in good fun.

And, even if you don't trust this team on the road, it was freaking Kansas for pete's sake! Kansas is one of the most putrid teams I've ever watched!
You have watched Texas.

As many of you have probably seen there's a line of thinking that goes keep Charlie as DC for Herman. i dismissed this out of hand yesterday. Politics do not allow for such an arrangement 99/100 times. BUT in this case, do those odds go significantly down?

The danger is Charlie and Herman are seen dueling and two camps form and it's bad for moral. But Charlie is a special guy and could stay with his defensive peeps and let Herman run the show and then after we clean up the next few years Charlie will get his shot again. He'll get enough credit and have enough good will.

Seems it would be a good move for Charlie. And Herman would have a hell of a DC with kids willing to run through a wall for him.

Plus you save a lot of money just paying Charlie his salary as the highest paid DC ever.

So, probably a bad idea, but not the worst idea. :)

No way in f'n hell.. im not even impressed with the defense that we have had since strong took over. The only reason people think it is improvement is because it was god awful before. It still isnt good enough.

The only way players should ever dictate the way a program is ran is when they play the game. And alot of that is dictated by how they are coached during the week and how they are coached during a game.

Problem with society today is everyone thinks they are a chief when they should realize that they are an indian.

So sick of entitlement. Life is not fare so they need to deal with it

Interesting concept but not happening. Ever. That's like bringing in Charlie and telling Mack Brown, "Hey you're a great recruiter so we would like you to stay on and bring in these kids while having zero anger towards the new coaches and regents." Not happening. Todd Orlando will come with Herman, and he's earned it

F that

I'd rather have UH's d-coordinator, Todd Orlando, but he may be their new HC if Major isn't.
