Houston is down 28-7 to SMU.....SMU I said. Does Texas want him, the issue we have is a coach that does not prepare his team properly. I do not want Herman if we get the same results.

Makes you wonder if the Houston players are tanking it on purpose so other places don't look at him. And yes, I'm wearing tin foli on my head as I type this.

Are you looking for a coach who never loses? Are we back to Saban? lol

Was Houston prepared when it wiped out Florida St? OU?

Houston's recent struggles have definitely added an interesting wrinkle to things. Last night was as bad as they've looked past couple seasons and it was the third week in a row they struggled.

Lucky for them they get 3 of the 4 at home before playing the season finale on the road in Memphis. If they can win 3 of the last 4 (Louisville is going to run them out of their own stadium) then I think that will help ease the concerns a bit with the recent struggles.

There really is no way of sugar coating them getting dominated by SMU though. Especially after that comment he made earlier in the year.

UH hasn't been the same since the rumors about Herman leaving started. The players look slower to me - letdown

I don't know if he is the new hot name , but I would at least want to talk with him as I do think and I even stated before Charlie was hired that he would be high on my list of who Texas should choose.  Looking around you are seeing Coaches like Mike Leach getting Washington State moving in the right direction heck even Bob Davie is working magic in Albuquerque compared to what they were before he arrived. I am still not sure about Herman but we will see.  I do know that Texas has to get the next hire right and I think you could get Chad Morris to sign a contract that is more favorable to Texas than what you would be able to get Herman to sign.  That is just my opinion .  I guess my main point is don't just focus on one guy lets get this right this time.

The bloom is certainly off the rose to an extent, but Herman could still be The Man and his hire won't disappoint me unless UH totally tanks. The past three weeks may have cost him a few $$$, though. The AAC is an underrated league, IMO.

The one negative I see about Chad Morris is that he's an aggy and if they ever called, he would jump ship.

I've noticed that too.

I still believe Herman is the top candidate but I'd also talk to Chris Peterson -UW and P. J. Fleck of Western Mich. Laugh at the latter choice but look what he has done there since taking over.

I read somewhere that Petersen isn't leaving the Pacific northwest for "family reasons".

Fleck may not be a bad choice, but he doesn't have the "wow" factor we need after 3 years of CFS failure.

Morris? F aggy. No, thanks

Well Royal was a sooner and how'd that work out. Morris will be a good coach one day at aggy.

People laugh about Bill O'Brien because the NFL is so great, right?  I googled his salary.  It is 3.5 million per year.  He did a good job at Penn State the short time he was there, and that was with one hand tied behind his back.  Of course even if he was interested, he probably wouldn't be available until late, unless they lost early in the playoffs, and that wouldn't work.

My preference is still Meyer, and I don't care if we blow the top off of salaries.  Heck, we pretty much did that when we went after Saban before.  Bama did end up paying him 7.5.  If we can get Meyer, pay what it takes.  The man can do it all.  What good does it do to have all that money if it just sits in the bank?  Besides that, Meyer would make us more than he costs us.  Pay the man.

We won't know if he will come unless we ask, and I think he would fit here.  Give him what he needs for a defensive coordinator and a disciplinarian.  Let him have input on the hiring of the new AD, as long as that AD fits the other criteria.  He is a can't miss, and he is the right age.  If he wants to stay in Ohio, fine.  Herman shouldn't be offended that we wanted his old boss, first.

If Meyer would come, our 2017 class would take an immediate bounce, and we could probably have the coordinators of our choice.

Dammit, I want college football to be fun again, and I am not changing teams.  Hook 'em!

Isn't Meyer an Ohio native? Just don't see any of these pillars of college coaching leaving their jobs at top football schools. They have built juggernauts and are successful already. I'm sure they look at their legacies and don't want to lower them by starting over again. We always think we can money whip people to Austin, hasn't worked lately. "We used to be Texas" seems more applicable unfortunately.

We won't know if they will come unless we ask.

Jimmy Johnson had a goal to win three rings:  one as a player, one as a coach of a college national champion, and one as a Super Bowl champ.  Who would have thought?

Maybe Meyer wants to win a National Championship as head coach at 3 schools.

I agree with this. What do he or Saban have left to prove where they are at? Either could go and turn Texas around and win one and ride off into the sunset as maybe the greatest coach of all times.

Good, God, will you people get off that "Morris is an Aggie so we don't want him" crap! WTF difference does it make? So using this level of intelligence, a coach must return to his alma matter? Using that reasoning, how did the David McWilliams thing work when Texas brought him back? That's like saying he could not coach at Eustace because he graduated from Edgewood.
