Cedar Park pitcher Cole Quintanilla has been committed to Mizzou since last year. He visited Texas yesterday and enjoyed his visit tremendously. He decommitted from Mizzou today. Texas is looking really good for him right now.

With the coaching change at Mizzou it appears his focus has shifted to Texas. Texas assistants Sean Allen and Phillip Miller were checking him out last week

Quintanilla is a 6'4 205 lbs RHP

Like the good news coming in on baseball recruits.

We also should be in pretty good shape after the draft signing deadline.

I can confirmed this, actually Sean and Philip were checking him out back June.

This has been in the works for that last 3 weeks.

Here is the young man back in June;

We knew this one was coming soon but we didn't know it would be this soon.  Great get for the Texas pitching rotation. Cole is a great kid with a speedy fastball - and he's still a growing young man at 6-5, 205 lbs..

We were told that after the Missouri coaching change Cole never heard from the staff (and he's been committed to the Tigers since November of 2015).  That paired with the recent changes at Texas appeared to open the door for the Longhorns to snag Quintanilla away from Columbia, Missouri.

I did the math quickly so it might be a little off, but damn we return a lot next year.

Texas returns 86% of its RBIs next yr.
82% of HRs next yr.
60% of wins on the mound.
100% of saves.
93% of stolen bases.

Who's the top guys in this group who could play a lot this up coming season.

Henley should be a good one I live in the DFW area and read a article on him in the sports. He was 8-0, 0.00 era and threw three consecutive no hitters.

Hamilton is a SS and could see some time early, depending on how Boswell/Baker play and what Pierce decides to do at SS/3B.  Same with Ryan Reynolds (3B) and Sosa.  We really got some skilled guys in middle IF with this class.

Groshans may see some time giving Cantu a spell behind the dish.  He also plays OF/IF, so he has some versatility.

Henley was mentioned, and he's in a similar boat as Roliard; strong kids with plus sliders and fastballs.  They need to develop a third pitch and I could see them getting some time in the rotation in some capacity.

Bucey may get some reps in the OF as he gives Texas an option as a left handed hitter.

Understand it's WAY too early to start projecting play time for incoming freshmen.  The game is at an entirely different speed and talent level than they've been exposed to up until now.  We should know more after the Orange/White Series this fall.

If he can play baseball as well as he played Deadpool, I'm glad he's on our team :P

Working on confirming some things;

One of them is that I heard one of the players had their scholarship dropped from the current class.

Then Beau O'Hara from Seven Lakes High School in 2015, played a year at Blinn Junior College, Committed to Tulane back in May. When David Pierce and staff came over here that opened up the door for Beau to commit to Texas. Trying to confirm if he will be a Scholarship or a walk on player.

When Beau was playing for Seven Lakes and for his Summer Team, the South Texas Sliders, he was a middle infielder. When he went to Blinn, he worked 42 inning on the mound. He mention to me that he is pitching now.
