Does anybody have a photo of UT's facility with the Core Values?

JB, do you remember how the Ags and Bears laughed at Charlie's core values when he was hired? I'm not hearing their laughter now. Are you?
Nope

The mamas and the papas have fully embraced Strong's message. Now we just need to put it together on the field. I predict another stellar recruiting class if we can win 8+ this season.

We're still a year away from competing for a Big12 title, IMO

I think it's also in the team meeting room, but it has resonated so that it is probably in multiple places.

DJ's, glitzy unis, and raping coeds is obviously NO way to build a football team.

I agree with everything but the last sentence.  We will compete for the conference title THIS year.

yes, but you would expect that.

the beautiful thing in my opinion is the extent to which many very highly regarded players have resonated to what charlie is saying and how charlie lives his life.  that encourages me very much and gives me hope for the future.  there are some excellent youngsters coming of age these days.

In this day of entitled kids and helicopter parents, I'm not sure I agree with your first line. . .

But to your 2nd comment, I 100% agree. .  .

oh, yeah, well, you're right.  i should have been more clear who i was thinking of.

the moms and pops of the players who charlie wants on his team is who i had in mind.  i was exulting that the youngsters themselves seem equally enthusiastic.  that is so encouraging for such a pessimist as i've become.

I know many of y'all know I'm also on Orangebloods.

I also know that there are some less than complementary thoughts on that site's owner.

Alex Dunlap and Geoff Ketchum have been on this story for quite some time. They have stuck with it through threats to their families, their profession and the lack of local Waco media concern to cover the story.

If you have the time, the last 30-40 minutes of their podcast this week discusses this at length, and it's a fantastic piece.

Joey, the last time I tried a podcast, my iPhone became possessed. I'm certain it was the operator, but...

Could someone summarize the high points? I always thought Briles was slimy. Nothing surprises me about him, and Baylor, hah! I don't even want to get started on the people that run that place. How can a school have both the Dave Bliss scandal and the Briles scandal and be totally oblivious? It's. Not. Possible.

Anyone who buys that story, has no credibility.

Java,

A couple of things:

You can listen online on your laptop/PC, so you don't have to listen through an iPhone.

It's a discussion of how their involvement came to be, and how some in the Waco media used their involvement as a reason for digging dirt up on the reporter involved, and some pretty interesting looks into the evidence that they were able to obtain from some of the victims.  It makes me wonder what the heck was going on in Waco with Baylor/media members that made every one of them sweep this thing under the rug.

Joey - I know you are not defending them, but simply reporting what they are saying.

But my position, today, is to hell with Baylor.  I don't care how they arrived to their sorry state, I don't care who they hire or what they do to "right" the problem.  I don't care about Waco's police dept. or the city fathers.  In fact, I don't give a damn if they become the most pious college in the land.

I just want UT to distance itself from that rats nest as quickly as possible.  Even if it means joining another conference or going Indy.

doc, I agree. I know some great people attend Baylor. I know someone quite well who works there and respect her a great deal. BUT, I was ready to boot Baylor out of the conference when the Bliss Basketball scandal broke. We also had the cat torture incident, and now, they have the Briles football rape scandal.

Baylor is a disgrace.

While the vast majority of colleges are trying to find a way to decrease the number of rapes on campus, Baylor is trying to cover up rape and protect the perpetrator. What kind of a bastard is Briles? Wait a minute. Did another high school coach write about him condoning use of steroids in high school athletes, editing film given to opponents, and keeping dressing room temps high enough that visiting athletes became dehydrated? I guess that's the kind of man he is. It wasn't much of a reach to cover up rape at that point. What an animal.
