Agree, and think it will get worse the further it goes. The longer they keep Sumlin just makes it worse.

Does this look like a Texas lanyard to you guys?

Trivia... Got my private pilot's license flying out of Nacogdoches. Been a while... trying to locate the cross-country log in my old book... But to say, I flew my required 3-legged solo cross country from Nacogdoches to Bryan (yep!), from there to Jefferson Co. Airport (Beaumount) and back to Nacogdoches. EDIT. Found it. The flight plan. Says Easterwood, College Station. I see it listed as CLL, but I wrote CCL in the log. Needless to say, was not done on a Garmin!

Some may know that Gordon Baxter of Beaumont area once wrote a column for FLYING magazine. He was from Pt. Arthur and I keep confusing him and his station with that of J.P. "Big Bopper" Richardson who was at another radio station in Beaumont in the 50s at KTRM, Baxter at KPAC in Pt. Arthur but I always associated him with Beaumont. And, matter of fact, more triva, I was born in Beaumont.

In Nacogdoches, the instructor that gave my check ride told me, "I've flown over 14,000 hours and been all over the world, and coming back to Nacgodoches is like coming in out of the rain." Never forgot that. Can't say I completely agree with that, but sort of did at the time.

Obvious that more major recruiting success is with current winners. What Texas is undertaking is outstanding given the past two seasons, and is in part due to Texas still being the elite brand it is, and the late-season more complete evaluation process that is now being done.

Discussions I believe on ESPN in the recruiting program today, mentioned the downside of too-early recruiting (commitments) that comes months before you see just how the player ends their senior season. Also added that efforts such as Strong is doing can be more specific to a position and need. So, later evaluation, and aimed at true needs.

That kind of recruiting style will work even better with 10+ in the win column, major bowls, and playing with an identity others can relate to. Gotta get this class in, meaningful spring and summer, and look damn good on Sept 3 in the home opener. Say no more.
