Breaking News: Sterlin Gilbert Interviewed This Morning for OC Position

With dead period starting on the 15th, Charlie needs to get this done in a hurry. A year late is better than never.

I am assuming Charlie moved back his in home visit with Shane?
Apparently we want the OC by Friday. If it's not Gilberrt, I could see Strong turning to Traylor.

According to Bobby Burton, as of 3:30 today, Charlie had not offered the position to Gilbert but was considering it.

247 also says CS "reaching out to several people who have worked with Gilbert" and will then make a decision on an offer.

Can't blame him for doing his due diligence. This could be the last big hire he makes at Texas if it doesn't work out with the new OC.

Calls like that should've been made prior to ever bringing him in. The disorganized Charlie appears to be the truth and not a myth.

Ah yes. The quote from the unnamed parent of some random recruit.

You know that he didn't? It's one thing to make calls before you bring a guy in - but you want to do as much due diligence as possible before actually offering.

If he didn't make calls it could have been because he thought he had Cumbie in the bag. Then they might of had to scramble to get Gilbert here. Maybe, I don't have any sources though. Sorry

How do you know that in the interview Gilbert didn't bring up some names that'd he'd like to bring in with him and Strong wants to do due diligence on those guys as well? With his arse on the line would you expect anything less?

OB reporting Sterlin Gilbert has left Austin.
A formal agreement could come as soon as tomorrow.
Also, Tulsa players should be informed tonight of the decision.

Why? I've been on both sides of the hiring process and the candidate is always interviewed prior to calling references. You don't waste your time calling references of somebody your mm haven't personally spoken with about the position.
