6 Strong

1. Snyder – wins even when he's not supposed to and in Manhatten, Kanas of all places.

2. Gundy – Takes pieces and fits them well. Good strategist. Plus, he's over 40 now.

3. Patterson – Tough as nails, great competitor, defensive mastermind

4. Kingsbury – Took a Tech team not picked to do anything and turned in a pretty good season.

5. Strong – Because he owned Stoops straight up in the Cotton Bowl.

6. Stoops – Pretty good performance overall, but how do you not have your team ready for RRR? This is what we used to say about Mack.

7. Briles – Only coach where half the team flees the practice field when law enforcement drives by. Did it ever occur to him that maybe he should get a 2nd QB ready for today?

8. Holgersen – Not seeing anything different than when he began.

No ranking – Iowa State - new guy

10. Beatty – That was just pitiful.

Not basing on one year. Stoops has 9 big 12 championships. No way he is 6th.

This is not a popularity contest:

1. Coach Stoopid....wins by a substantial margin

2. Briles

3. Patterson

4. Snyder

5. Gundy

Let Strong, Holgerson and Kingsbury draw straws for the 6,7 and 8 position.

I thought you meant right now.

How can you compare, say a Stoops with his 9 against a Briles who has less time as a HC in the Big 12?

If Saban took the Texas job, took Texas to an undefeated conference championship this year – would Stoops still be the best coach in the conference? Or yesterday's best coach?

I'm not smart enough to list them 1-8 so I just grouped them.

Top Group - Stoops, Patterson, Briles

Middle Group - Snyder, Gundy

Bottom Group - Strong, Holgerson, Kingbury

Regardless of their record - this year or the last 10 years - you asked who we thought were the top 6 Big 12 coaches.

Here is my list based on intelligence, motivation, teaching ability and CEO acumen:

1. Snyder

2. Patterson

3. Briles

4. Stoops

5. Gundy

6. Holgorson
