I'll Go Ahead and Say It, Re; Tom Herman

Behind the scenes . . . .

According to one insider that I trust (not JS), some non-UT staff have been scouting out OC prospects for some time. In fact, one has been talked to at length and is apparently already lined up.

As you might imagine, CS was taken aback by this development when he found out. A search conducted by someone besides himself, without him knowing and without his consent . . . CS is wondering . . . well, you can imagine.

We all know the OC in question and most of us like him. But at this point, the whole thing may blow up just because of the way it was handled or that it was handled in the first place.

On the other side, no one is trusting CS to make the correct OC hire, which is why this happened. So we may be back to what to do with CS.

Wow, about to have another 10-win season. Fifth winningest active coach in the NCAA. And he's fired. This may be one of those rare cases where the one they fire has the more impressive resume than the one they hire.

Maybe, but how many SEC titles did Richt win? Obviously, the UGA alumni and administration expects more.

SHA, Strong is upset he can't pick his OC?
Nothing here is surprising really.

Yes I am sure he is upset this went on behind his back.  Nor am I surprised no one trusts him to make his own decision /cough Watson.  God knows I dont.

if we all know this is going to be a shit show next season, he isnt trusted enough to make his own hire, and the recruiting class is tanking, then why are we giving him another year?

If you can't trust your head coach to pick his own coordinators then you probably should let him go.
This ^^^

I was wondering if we want a poster boy for a HC or an actual coach that can make good decisions.  So much truth in your post its depressing.

I thought somebody on this board said earlier that it was a done deal for Herman to go to SCeast?  Said they knew him or something like that..i'm too lazy to go back but these rumors are getting silly from the internet experts

Wow... can imagine that CS is pissed about this.  Our insiders and LSU's should get together and have a strategy session on how to not handle things. Too much meddling.  With that said, it might be time to let him go and get someone strong enough as a HC to stop the inmates from running the asylum or we are doomed to continually repeat these BMD types going rogue every time they are unhappy.  Shades of becoming the Cowboys, only with multiple Jerry Jone's with their fingers in the pie

My sentiments, exactly.

I am wondering by not including CS in the OC hire if that might not be a way to just say "Hey if you don't like it you can quit" are we can all come to a buyout agreement that is much less than $15 million that it would currently take.   I mean what else is that telling you.  If Charlie is given a third year it will take a miracle season for him to be successful and they know this. I said it before if he is going to be the Coach then let him make the decisions regarding his staff.  If he chooses to make no changes or does make a change be it good or bad let it be his decision. Then all success or failure will rest on his shoulders and not the University.
