Have you tried some "flashy" attire?

Four bets. Four wins.

Seriously. I HAVE NEVER BET ON THE HOUSE BEFORE! first four races I won each simply by choosing the name I liked best.

"Mountain Dew Man" was a no brainer. I'm a Mountain Dew Drinker. Long shot but won.

I attended Sam Houston Racetrack one time, in the summer of 1998. I bet a Trifecta Box, bet the minimum of $2.00, which

actually cost $12.00 because of the possible combinations, hit on it and won $480.00. Best winning ticket I ever cashed

at any pony races.

Best of luck to you, Shevis...get well, amigo.

Started out with a 5 dollar bet. Was up 405 at one point. Put it t all on last race. My horse placed, I bet to win with 11\1 odds. Lost by a half length.

Oh well.

I learned from a friend about betting the Trifecta Box at the Gulf Greyhound Racetrack in 1993. Didn't win money

that day, but since then, when at the horse races, I only make that type of bet. I make the minimum $2.00 bet

(costing me $12.00) on all the races, if you lose all day on 9 or 10 races, you've lost $120.00 on the day. If you

can hit on just ONE Trifecta Box, you've more than paid for your day. I've never won squat betting on Win, Place

or Show, but betting the Trifecta Box has treated me right.  That's just me, don't know anything about betting on

the ponies! Don't attend pony races often, but winning that particular bet has sent me home "ahead" more times

than not.

Dennis, we're going to the track in 2 weeks, so you better be ready!
Sounds great. Had fun. Been a long time since I've been to the track. Interesting mix of people. Not exactly like being at the Airport to people watch, but interesting nonetheless.

I once had the opportunity to take a friend's place at the Kentucky Derby back in the ABC Sports days. I was burned out and just wanted to go home that year. I passed. I bid again about 7-8 times for that gig and never got it. So it's one of the few Major Sporting events I never worked. I have zero regrets about that as I think it would be cool to go to rather than work. If you get my drift. (pardon the pun)

You just wanted to wear one of those goofy big hats. You're not fooling anyone here. ;)
