Off-topic, but relevant to the discussion...Notre Dame's basketball uni's that they wore tonight were the reasons why traditionalists balk at updated uniforms.
How is this A) representative of ND's colors, and B) a nice looking uni?

The kids love them. Pull them out for one game a year. They are not too over the top.
They aren't too over the top for some also ran, but they are for Texas. Kids like all sorts of things that they don't get to do. They would wear short shorts up to their waist, jeans down to their knees, some would die their hair any color or the rainbow, shave their heads, or wear it to their waist. Kids can be like Madonna, make a change, get a reaction. Make another change, get a stronger reaction.
If you make one change, the changes never stop. That's the problem. The traditionalists need to say, 'No'! It's all being driven by marketing anyway. The schools pay for the uniforms, and the athletes are going to start getting paid. Less profit, less money for the athlete. I wonder if anyone has ever thought about that, other than the number crunchers.
If the student athletes had to look at the funds they were to receive, and decide whether to purchase alternate uniforms from those funds, my guess is they would vote a resounding No. Football may be safe, but other sports aren't. Nike is exploiting athletes to pad their pockets, and I am tired of it.

I actually liked these UA uniforms for their versatility. ND can wear the gold against white or dark colored teams. Players like small tweaks in their look on the field. A black uniform with burnt orange trim is very cool and would make the players feel special when they wore them. Players like it when they feel good about themselves running out of the tunnel and it translates to playing well on the field.

The only change I would consider is orange pants with the orange shirt.
Black, grey or green have nothing to do with The University of Texas. To even suggest them is blasphemous.
Whomever suggests uniforms with any of these colors should be strung up in a mesquite tree in Marfa, Texas.

black uniforms looked great. throw them out there for a game, especially if the players want them.

How about we have a few winning season's before we start giving in to what the kids want? I'm just saying, don't encourage mediocrity, make the team earn the right to have a say first, and that starts by winning. Otherwise its just another gadget in a program a la DJ at practice program.
