2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

"Kris Boyd is one of my good friends and he has been telling me a lot about Texas.†- Van Jefferson.

.......  Maybe he was telling him about Texas as a state.
247 was asked that but did not give a definitive answer.

Maybe they dont know?

Here is Max Olson on this class

Nothing you do not already know, but I liked the opening, so am going to drop it in here

Think back to Dec. 16, less than a month ago.  We had just lost Jordan Stevenson.  Jefferson/McNeal seemed like a long shot.

Compare that to what we are talking about today.  We have come a long way in a short span of time.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Back on Dec. 16, Charlie Strong could only offer optimism.

Texas had just lost a commitment from a longtime running back pledge and recruiting momentum seemed potentially stagnant. A big announcement was coming in a few days, and the Longhorns' chances weren't looking so hot. Their head coach was urging caution and patience.

“There's still some key guys left out here,†Strong said.

Three days later, elite linebacker Malik Jefferson and four-star receiver DeAndre McNeal stood in their auditorium at Poteet High School (Mesquite, Texas) and stunned many by declaring they're going to Texas.

Malik Jefferson's commitment created much-needed momentum in Texas' recruiting.
“Whoever wants to come next, come on,†Jefferson said after his commitment ceremony.

------------------

“You still have enough guys here where you look for classes just to build on what you already have,†Strong said.

Selling the results of what he does already have -- a frustrating 6-7 season -- might not sound easy, but this is standard practice for first-year coaches. We’ve already seen it at Ole Miss, UCLA, Tennessee and Kentucky in recent years. It’s coming soon to Michigan. The new guy’s first full class is the time to sell hope and the future. You’re offering not just playing time, but a chance to build something big.

“It's all about character and young men who wants to change their lives,†Strong said last month. “The thing about it, I'm not looking for players who want to be mediocre. We don't need to be mediocre. That's not who we are. We need to recruit players who love football and want to do something special with our life.†

--------------------------

And as Strong has said all along, there are still some guys left.

“It's still The University of Texas,†he said. “Great athletics, great athletics, and that's what it's all about. That's going to happen. We'll get the right players here.â€

So who might qualify that fits these terms?

As many of you know, I have eluded to something big in the works for some time now. It is going to happen, I can promise you that and this could be the only time you ever see me promise anything with regards to anything recruiting related because I just don't do that. That is how strongly I feel about this situation.

There have been lots of misinformation about what I originally said, so I want to go over it quickly. A surprise is coming and when it happens everyone on the planet will know what I was talking about. That is the only thing I have ever said about it.

Richmond or Mack would be big but I dont think either would qualify as a surprise at this point.

Soso wouldnt qualify either.

A QB would be big and seems to fit, but Locksley would not be a surprise at this point.

Murray probably would qualify, but it seems impossible as he is out there actively recruiting for aggy.

Transfer?  Miller probably would qualify but why would he come here?

What about this 5-star? http://247sports.com/Player/Jarrett-Stidham-30678  That would shock the planet

very shocking since it says he has signed with Baylor.

Stidham doesnt actually enroll in classes until Monday

So, there is still a chance!

OK, Stidham's not coming, but I cant see anyone else (other than Murray, who isn't coming either) who would qualify as both big and unexpected.  To me, unexpected would be someone who we do not already know is visiting.  Because whoever visits, we have a chance with.  Thus. no one who we already know is visiting would count as "unexpected."

Man I'm in the same boat but I gotta say we have become a tough crowd to please lol. A month ago we would of been thrilled with just McNeal and Boyd potentially committing. Now it it's not a big surprise if we get locksley, Mack, hill, Boyd, Strickland, Richmond, fields, brossette, warren, ect.. I got a lot to be happy about thanks to Charlie Strong and his team of closers.

According to Higdon, we now have 5-star players tripping over each other to get in for an OV.  They know we have limited schollies left and want to get a face-to-face with Charlie before some other ranked recruit gets in there.  We live in interesting times.

Right now, I know of roughly 4-5 high four-star ranked kids, some committed to other schools that are desperately - and I mean desperately trying to somehow find a way into the Texas class. Things should be pretty clear to everyone (public/other media) very soon. Usually, and I do mean usually, we see these sort of things work themselves out. If something were to happen with a Davante Davis, it simply opens up room for another great player who wants in.

Just got a text from a clued in friend. An experienced QB who plays at another school has reached out to UT. This supposedly happened weeks ago.

This is the caliber of player we would have reached out to, but it's very interesting that this happened the other way around. We are very receptive.

He previously started, then got hurt, replacement was very good. You know who he is by now. I think this is Hig's surprise. Maybe.

If Higdon is to be believed, it's not a transfer qb. He has continually said that a transfer qb is the last thing you will see in this class, for now at least. That could change if some of the other qbs we are chasing dont come to fruition.
