I don't think he really wanted to leave and got a great offer. GT didn't have the best defense this year as a DC. Also Terry Joseph left. So now he can come back as Passing Game Coordinator and not just Safeties coach. That can justify giving him a raise from the $600K he was making in 2024. Joseph was making $850K when he left so you can probably offer Gideon $925K and he'd take it. Only a very small drop in pay from the $1 million he is making at GT. May be worth it to come home and have a little more job stability.
Don’t say I didn’t tell you!

Chad Morris back to Clemson as OC. ESPN report

Per OTF, Gerry Hamilton

Former Texas signee and defensive back (finished at SFA) Ben Wells has been hired in the recruiting department at Texas. He was previously at Texas State.

He signed with Texas out of Beaumont Ozen in the 2008 recruiting class.

Someone will get a good DC.

Coach K is the Greg Davis of Defensive Coordinators. Good human being, very effective..... but runs a scheme that makes you want to tear your hair out at times. Perhaps a scheme not fitted for a blue-blood school? But the bottom line is that he out-performed our offense pretty much the entire time he was here.

A Bend but don't Break defense relies too much on the offense making a mistake to put them behind the chains or bad passes. It also relies on having a good pass rush. Top teams like those in the playoffs will usually have the discipline to avoid pre-snap penalties and a good O-line to protect your QB.

I see him going to a team that is a middle tier team like Colorado or maybe UCLA. Not teams that are consistently in the top 20.
