So I'm a bit confused (color me surprised), Arch is due to make 15-20 M dollars this year and people are calling it NIL but yet most of the money is coming from companies. That's endorsements, not funding through the school. Right?

I’m with you. It’s all so murky now. It used to be much easier and clearer when it was just some rich alum sliding an envelope into a locker.

Technically it still is NIL, just not from a school collective. Prior to NIL, college athletes could not make money off endorsements or outside companies while in college. Now they can. Arch just to happens to be able to make money on his own (thanks to the family name).

NIL has always been about players making money separate from the schools. They were previously limited in using their Name, Image and Likeness to make any money - even a free meal or free tattoo.

The confusion is that schools made the move to create their own NIL type funding through things like "collectives". That money was still not from the school per se but after a year or so, the schools were allowed some say in how those funds were distributed.

The next thing coming is profit sharing - which will be direct payments to players from the schools. This is a first.

NIL will continue through endorsement deals by companies to players.

Williams should be in there somewhere, but the total is still 13. We could actually have 14 drafted if Hayden Conner gets drafted

Overanalysis seems to be the answer. People not in love with his measurables and testing numbers - while ignoring the on the field performance over the last 3 years.
