Could be injury related, he was hampered all last year if I remember correctly.

Depth chart could have also been an issue for him, especially if it became evident he was going to be behind the incoming freshmen

I’d expect more as Spring practice goes on. Be a backup on a contender or go play at a smaller school?

Quitting mid spring practice is not a great sign though. It is not like he can transfer right now.

For some reason, he is choosing to sit out of weeks of football practice vs staying with the team, continuing to be coached up and developed and compete. If by end of spring you don't like your standing on the depth chart, transferring makes sense to enroll somewhere for the summer.

True, but quitting for medical reasons is a very different story. Has anyone heard that is not the case?

Didn't he miss most of his senior high school season? Broken leg I think?

Does anyone have any insight as to why Kelvin Banks has dropped so much in mock drafts?

They are pegging him as a guard instead of tackle. He tested average athletically at the combine and moving inside to guard the game is sped up and they worry about him getting beat since she showed after 2 seconds he can get beat (in college). Guards aren’t at the same premium as tackles.

If he falls to the 20s, someone is going to get a great deal.

If he does end up here, that will be the narrative from a certain set of Texans. Even though no one would deliberately sabotage their own career.
There are some aggy that truly believe Schlossnagle threw the championship, just to stick it to a&m, because he already knew he was going to Texas. That's one demented fan base!

What's kind of ironic about this is that Kelvin Banks got penalized for not blocking well enough for a QB who had below-average pocket presence/awareness (see article in post above). In one of the Georgia games, rather than staying in the pocket, Quinn scrambles right into the pass rusher Banks is blocking and the sack allowed gets attributed to Banks. There have been too many instances where Quinn would have benefited of just staying in the pocket or even just stepping up and then making the throw.
