Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

The strip sack at the end of the game really pissed me off. Quinn's inability to hold on to the ball is going to cost him a lot of money. ESPN has his overall rank at 91 I think. Kiper has dropped him several places in his position rankings. I appreciate what Quinn did here, but I am definitely ready for the Manning era.
He’s a lower end version of Jay Cutler or a bad version of Tony Romo (prob better comparison). When he came here I thought he’d at least be Brett Favre given his gunslinger mentality.

And while those are NFL comparisons, I’m not sure he starts in the NFL but hopefully he gets his chance.

The Final AP rankings. AP moved Oregon ahead of us. I don't agree with that. OSU boatraced them.

Sorry but the 12 teams who made the playoffs should be the top 12 teams. The 4 who lost first should be 12 thru 9, then the next 4 should be 8 thru 5 then the 2 who lost in the semis 4 & 3 with the final 2 being 2 & 1. That is how bracket play works.

SMU ahead of Clemson who Clemson beat head to head?

But the AP isn’t a part of the CFP.

Top bracket spots awards to conference champions, not the top four highest rated teams at the start of the playoffs.

True but they can still figure out bracket play.
That’s not the voters job. They are supposed to vote for the top 25 teams. The CFP had a seeding system that didn’t seed the top 4 as the top 4 resulting in a weird bracket. The voters don’t need to be a slave to that. Ultimately, if you’re not the champion it’s just a beauty contest so it doesn’t matter.

same number of turnovers at critical times? 👀

j/k

Couldn't tell you. Never saw him play a down of football this year.

Which means I also don't know if he played with a torn oblique and/or a bad ankle. Or if he played with running backs who were very average and non-existent against really good teams. Or if one side of his offensive line was average at best. Or if his most explosive WR played at far less than 100% for most of the year.

Ohio state had 3 different receivers that were better than anything Texas had.
They also had better running backs.
Quinn was not Superman, but he was not the reason we lost.
Watch the draft. I guarantee Ohio state will have more high picks than Texas.
I think the last recruiting class will give us a good boost, especially on defense.
I hope Baxter is healthy, because I don’t see a top running back behind him.

There's a site I love to use for the draft. It's drafttek.com. They already have a complete Mock Draft up and they have 13 Longhorns going. Four in the first round!

Clark, Gibson, Wisner, James Simon (a coach's son), Rickey Stewart, in addition to Baxter. No doubt, Baxter's return is exciting and I hope it goes smoothly. Clark, before iinjury, was drawing a lot of praise. Simon is said to be college-ready.
