Game Thread – Texas hosts UTRGV

#1 Texas (29-5) will play host to University of Texas/Rio Grande Valley (25-10) Tuesday at 6:30 pm at the DIsch.



We have a weekend series with Auburn coming up. They're playing good ball right now.

Auburn swept #3 LSU as they continue to surge in the SEC

This should be interesting how Schloss uses the pitching staff. Guessing Bing with the start. But as Schloss has stated that they use the SIM games in practice to see how the pitchers are doing/coming along. Might use Bing to start, then maybe Mercer and McCreery with Rerick and Hamilton in some sort of order to keep as many arms fresh and ready for Auburn.

Plus, probably won't have any SIM game this week, so this game might be used as the SIM game.
Would love to see if Winfield or Williams get more time in left field over J. Duplantier.

Very disappointing that none of the Auburn series are on anything but SEC+, but doubt anybody thought they would be this good.

Burns looked good this weekend, he went 5 innings on Saturday. I believe he started some last year with ASU.

I've always felt like tournament play in college baseball ends up being so different from the regular season in regards to pitching.

Regular season, most you ever have is 3 games over 3 days (or two if there is a DH for some reason).

Post-season, you could play 5 games, usually over 4 days max. You gotta be comfortable using a lot of arms and yes, developing some 4th and 5th starters.

I had forgotten that we lost to UTRGV last year 17-9 .
That was only their 2nd win in Austin.
That should've made Pierce resign after the game. I didn't watch as I was already so out on Pierce.

Good to hear both Farmer (8 hitter), Winfield (9hitter) with singles. Now schuessler with a bunt single. Bases loaded no outs. Galvan walks to get a RBI. Now 4-0. Flores strikeout. Gasparino with a RBI single.
