GAME DAY – ASU, CFP Rd. 2

Certainly not a dominate performance, which I read in a post elsewhere.

1.6 rushing average??? Wow. The asu Dline was undersized and we managed only 1.6? We're going to get killed by osu.

Quinn with some respectable passing numbers.

I heard at one point in the game that skattebo had as many total yards as all of Texas offense.....

The fact that we couldn't run the ball seemed to lie squarely on the OL. I just don't understand how they couldn't be successful against an undersized DL. Us fans tend to bitch and moan about Sark not running the ball more, but it seems like Sark tried in the 3rd quarter and it lead to another mediocre 3rd quarter.

Hopefully Flood chews out the OL and lights a fire under their arses so that we don't get a repeat performance. And just when I thought the OL false start penalties would be minimized with Cam Williams out, Goosby goes and does his best Cam impression and gets a couple of false starts himself 😥

E Acho dissects this well.

Isn’t this just what a QB should do? Yes amazing play but it’s what standard good QBs do. I’m obv glad he did it but this was no hero play.

The throw. The audible. The catch. All should be normal standard.

Cam almost single handedly beat Texas. I hate to admit but the guy was outstanding. He cleared the offensive MVP without question.

His stats are historic.

I'm not so sure 'standard good QBs' all do this. I've criticized Quinn on several occasions, but you have to give him his flowers for his OT play. He made great throws in highly pressure packed situations. I'm not gonna lie, when it was 4th and 13, I was pretty sure we lost.

Leavitt threw an interception in OT. I prefer QE. He led two drives in the 4th that should have won the game. On both of those drives we got conservative when in “field goal” range. Hopefully, we don’t do that again.

Prior to the 4th and 13 play, ASU had a 91.2% probability of victory. That tells you how unlikely picking up a first down was, let alone a TD. If you watch the play, QE put the ball in the perfect spot even before Golden got open. Execution by the entire team on that play was on point, and QE and Golden were perfect. In college, executing that play is exceptional and even in the NFL it would be a great play.

I love and appreciate everything Tre does and think Blue is underutilized but man do I miss Baxter. Really thought the Oline would be better this year and his injury wouldn't be such a major setback for this offense.

Well, he did well but he had help getting into the endzone on that one play where his Olineman picked him up and carried him into the endzone. Not a legal play.

Also, the key word from your statement "almost". "almost" doesn't work in football. Only horseshoes.

So no, he should not have been O MVP.

One thing that really allowed Cam to eventually make plays was our offense not being able to give our defense a rest. At some point, if you're playing that many plays, you're gonna wear down and miss tackles or can't cover receivers.

Bad year for Auburn. Yet he becomes Texas' most prolific place kicker with one more year to go.
Cut the dude some slack.

I'm with you. It's frustrating for sure, but you have to assume he is doing everything he can to return to form, and that nobody is more frustrated then him.

I'm sure Sark and Banks will do everything they can to help him get through this season, moving forward to next season he may or not be the answer, but either way no need to pile on.

Funny story. During the game my wife was in the other room and thought she heard the anouncer say burnt auburn a few times, and said why do they keep saying burnt auburn, it's burnt orange.

I haven't re-watched the game but it seems to me the biggest issue with our run block is blocking. Most of it seems to be poor effort on the right side especially Campbell. He's supposed to be a mauler but he had his worst game as a Longhorns. This wasn't an Arizona St caused issue. We caused on our problems.

it's fixable.

Now those false starts on the right side of the line.....a season long problem.

I did get to rewatch parts of the game and it looked like Cole Hutson was in at RG and was responsible for some of the false starts, so I apologize for blaming Goosby for all of false starts.

Nah. Missed FG in title game and 2 this last game which could have cost us the game.

Even Sark after his lil pep talk with Auburn was all smiles trying to build his confidence before the last attempt which would have avoided OT. Yet when Auburn missed, Sark rolled his eyes.
