Directors Cup Thread

Projected victory for Texas looking more and more likely. Biggest change, Stanford looking like baseball won’t make the tourney. For Texas, both track teams are performing much better in the outdoor season compared to indoor.

Texas is squarely in the drivers seat now. The other teams will need some unexpectedly positive results paired with Texas underachieving to have a chance. If Texas is able to match their current projection, no one can reasonably catch up.

Why did we slide in baseball? We won our conference.

Softball keeps their season alive with a 10th inning win over Clemson last night. Winner takes all game tonight. They have 64 points in the Director'c cup currently and would move to 73 if they win. Would be a small blow to the Directors' Cup chances if they lose.

Men's Golf started play yesterday at the NCAA championships. They are currently tied for 2nd. Top 15 make the cut for the 4th round of stroke play and then the top 8 advance to match play.

How do we measure up with USC in track and field?

USC is very good in track this year. The projected score includes them finishing 1st and 4th. Texas is ranked 11th and 13th.

Texas rowing just won the NCAA Championship a couple of days ago, was that factored in your latest equation?

Edit note: Texas finished 3rd, I was looking at the wrong date.

No worries. And yep, everything that has occurred has been factored in. There is a new version of this projection after factoring in new track rankings but things didn't change much.

Thanks Doc! 🤘🏼

From Bobby Burton today:

The Texas men’s track and field squad limped (literally) to a 34th place finish last night. One of the hurdlers who was expected to score points for the Horns was injured.

That puts a greater emphasis on today’s action at the women’s T&F championships where the Director’s Cup will also be decided.

According to Director’s Cup expert Dr. Brett Wilkinson, the Texas women must finish 11th or better to secure the Director’s Cup for Texas for the fourth time in five years. Otherwise, USC likely takes home the Director’s Cup.

Texas is slated to finish anywhere from 10th-14th, so it’s coming down to the wire.
