Texas drops the conference opener to Mississippi State, 101-98 in OT.

Dailyn Swain was the leading scorer for the Horns. He had 34 pts on 10 of 18 shooting and was 12 of 15 from the line.

Vookietattis had 19 pts and 4 rebounds.
Tramon Mark had 20 pts and was 2 of 6 from the three.

As a team, Texas shot 48% which was better than MSU's 45%.

Texas shot 28% from the three pt line while MSU was 30%.

Texas had 10 turnovers and MSU had 11.

MSU outrebounded Texas 47-39.

Swain fouled out with 1:42 left in regulation on a horrible call. Texas doesn't score again in regulation and lose a 5-7 point lead. Texas doesn't score until 3:30+ left in OT.

There are 3-5 players that might need to sit for the better part of the rest of the season for Texas. This isn't my opinion, but coach Miller without truly saying the players names.

It could get real ugly with road trips to fake ut and bama coming up.

I try not to complain about officials, but Swain was fouled out by 2 very questionable calls in the few minutes. The refs did effect the outcome of the game.

I didn't get to watch the game. So I have no idea about the game except for what I found in the box score, which I posted.

Was that the guy that Miller went after during the 2 timeouts at the end of the game? Felt like Miller couldn't believe the calls, which neither could the fans or myself. CDC might need to talk to Sankey about these officials soon.

I guess it was as good as one could hope for. Matas has to play, but he is at least 1 yr away from being a nice player that understands what to do in space.

Pope and Mark have to much 1 vs. the other team; and not enough sharing of the ball and using ball screens for pick & rolls.

Would like to see more Clark and Codie before 1 or both hits the portal in IMO.

We really need 2 point guards out of the portal. Along with several other positions.

The 9-6 Horns will visit tthe #11 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-4) this evening. Tip off is at 7 pm and will be televised by ESPN.

Bama is 1-1 in SEC play while Texas is 0-2.

Jordan Pope caught fire tonight, scored 28 to lead the team in scoring. Swain had 18 pts, Mark had 18 pts. and Traore had 7 pts off the bench. Traore had 8 rebounds as did Swain.

I do wonder how much of the pregame questioning of the players desire to play the game as Miller wanted done led to the better player/team defense/offense went into the game. Still hate to be the guy bitching about the officials, but damn did the big 12/SWC/SEC become one and the same?

Hopefully this effort goes into the next game against vandy at home.

Some of the calls last night were terrible. My favorite bad call was when Pope hit the shooters arm with his chin.

Traore played huge coming in for Big V. I also thought Hiedi and Weaver played big roles last night also. They did some little things big last night that don't show up in the box score.

I hope they play Vandy like they played last night!
