Basketball News/Recruiting Thread

I know several people in Lubbock that can’t stand UT. Complete different culture of people.
Austin is super liberal,
Lubbock is super conservative
Both my kids go to Tech, and I don’t wear UT gear when I visit. Not worth the risk. The good news is when they come home (Austin area) they put on their UT gear, cause I raised them right

I would have liked Calapari. I know he has a large buyout, but I’m thinking there is money available
A. I said a top 10 coach, he isn't that. He hasn't been that in over a decade.

B. Not certain of his buyout at arkie (still getting paid by Kentucky), but that is just 1 neg. checkmark against him. His past (outside of Kentucky) is another neg. checkmark against him.

C. Wanting an unlimited NIL amount in deals is a zero chance of happening at Texas.

I take this as confirmation our NIL fund isn’t in the game of paying a single player &1m+ (ok, maybe certain football or men’s basketball players). I get it, if you have a certain budget for the overall team it’s hard to allocate most to a couple players. I wonder what our basketball NIL budget is?
Men's NIL was probably around 4 million and increasing to 5-6 million after Miller hire.

Women's bball NIL probably much less, 1 to 2 million tops I would think.

Thanks! I was curious on what the budget was. Hard to spend half your budget on one Freshman, especially when you still have Madison Booker on the team

Does “do not contact” mean he already has a landing spot, or “I want to talk to the new coach before fielding offers”?

It usually mens they are already in contact with the school they intend to transfer to and don't want other schools contacting them.

Jumpman is a Nike brand. They wear the jumpman logo for the basketball teams and the football team. The rest of their uniforms have the Nike swoosh.

I think Jumpman is the logo for Air Jordan. MJ broke away from Nike and began his own thing.

Having grown up just south of Lubbock and having even graduated from TTU, I think I can say that most of the hatred for UT is the desire to be relevant and part of the conversation. Most of the hatred I witness is a copy from ou(sux) and aggy. They want their glory to be in football. It is my believe that most schools/fans want to be known as a football school vs a basketball or track school. Many are hanging there hopes on the fact that this past portal class is going to help them compete for a conference title and more.

All of the Jordan Brand is under Nike. I can find no evidence of some separate brand started by Jordan.
