2026 PORTAL

The return of Cojoe makes this not sting. And his entry into the portal may mean someone is coming from the portal who will step ini front of him on the depth chart.

Brooks' film isn't very good so it may be awhile before he lands. However, there seems to be a premium on OL right now.

Wasn't the rule that you wanted 12-15 lineman on your roster. Are we going to be able to field 10 ?

Brooks was absolutely doted over by our coaching staff and media preseason. His stint at guard.... well, let's just say our offense couldn't do anything because of that one position. Maybe that's not fair because he was tossed into a new position in haste? The young man's ceiling is sky-high! His film (as you say) is in the basement. I'd like to keep him for development, but that is not the current season of college football.

I would say take a count on how many didn't play and deduct that from your total and thats what you'll have.

The way the portal has become, it doesn't make too much sense to put so much into development when some other team gets the benefit in the long run. Why not sit back and use the portal for seasoned players who are already developed?

Texas doesn't want to pay players to ride pine so I suspect the OL number does come down.

I agree. How many OL do NFL teams carry? We’ll have to carry a few more, since we can’t sign anyone midseason if there’s an injury.

What we did at QB this past year.... I could see value in this for OL. Pick up several grad transfer types from small schools.... for crisis-depth in return for a shot at a national championship. Hmmm.....

No, but I do think you'll see teams start reducing the size of their classes to 18-20 players each time. Development is not as important anymore when other teams are doing it for you and you just pick them up in the portal when they arer developed.
I've been thinking about this song applying to college football and the portal.
