American Heritage OL is terrible. If Bell is successful its a testament to how good he is.
I tuned in at the start of the 4th qtr. They were down 28-0 late in the 3rd, but managed to come back and win it 31-28 in regulation. Bell can move in the pocket, can throw, and is accurate. Their line was porous, and receivers dropped several catchable balls. Bell gets extra points for sporting the Longhorn logo

How did St
Joseph win State last yr in Pa. That coach called some bone headed plays. He got ahead by running ball. Kids hot excited and QB could not complete ball and whem American Heritage score twice in 3rd they panicked. You could tell high school game. Looked like Ore City/ Rivercrest.

Will Gilmer have
I'm planning on going to a couple of Gilmer games. Depending on my work schedule but that is the plan. Especially during Yamboree weekend
Looks like during Yamboree Gilmer will be playing at Van. They scheduled some tough games before district. They play at Kilgore on 9/12 and host Brenham on 9/26.

Small note - Lake Travis has a Tight End named Harrison Kolkhorst. Big kid and plays lacrosse. Has several scholarship offers for lacrosse, but he is a guy that could burst on the scene his senior season as the starting TE for the Cavs. Had a 60 yard TD on Saturday in scrimmage. LT plays some good games this season against Arlington Martin, Midland Lee, Westlake, etc. Should be a fun season! We will be keeping an eye on him and a handful of other kids from LT.

LT plays Rockwall Sep 5. Usually Rockwall has good teams, I'm not sure about this yr though.

Shotime, I have a bit of ET football history to share with you, since Gilmer will travel to Van for the first game.

Van, an oil town, were heated rivals of Grand Saline, called "Salt Town" (Morton salt operates a salt dome under Grand Saline).

These two teams used to open each season against each other. Many years ago, the day before the game and late at night . . . Van football players and their crowd snuck into Grand Saline's stadium/field and spelled VAN using crude oil in the middle of the field, right over the GS logo.

The bad thing is, oil kills grass. So Grand Saline was stuck with that VAN on their field the rest of the season.

The following year's game was played at Van. The night before the game, GS players and kids drove over and snuck into the stadium. They spelled out a big GS at midfield and they did it using copious amounts of salt. And you guessed it, salt kills grass.

You'll never see something like that happen again. lol

Daingerfield – Mt Pleasant used to be a big rivalry game. I played in that game three years running. We would routinely travel to MP and spray paint SUX on their water tower right after "Mt Pleasant." And they would do the same to our water tower. One year, we sent their coach a box of band aids a week before the game. lol. We shouldn't have done that. lol We got killed
