I'd like to know how in the hell we didn't drop like a rock in the overall rankings? At any rate, the calculation is simple....just win baby, just win!!!

Below, the USA Today coaches poll

NCAAA rankings

The teams ranked 2nd and 3rd dropped 2/3 games. #4 was idle.

Going into this weekend we were way ahead of everyone else. Essentially we had built a huge cushion over must of the other teams. There are 5 major rankings and we were ranked 1,1,2,2 and 3 after being unanimously first. In RPI we are ranked 2nd.

Belyeu has been doing some "light hitting" per Schloss. If he continues to progress he could play next weekend vs OU.

I think it'll be a balance between keeping him healthy, getting him back in a groove and also how important our remaining games are.

Is Volantis eligible for the MLB draft as a freshman? If he is he's gone.

All games complete this weekend and Texas has a:

Two game lead over Arkansas. Arkansas plays Tennessee next weekend. Magic number is 2 to avoid tying with Arkansas. Arkansas owns the tie break over Texas H2H.

Three game lead over LSU. LSU plays 15th place South Carolina. A sweep is definitely possible. If they sweep and we get swept, we would end up tied. Magic number 1 to stay ahead of LSU. We do own the tiebreak over LSU.

There is the possibility of a 3 way tie if:Texas 0-3. Arkansas 2-1, LSU 3-0. Since all 3 teams played each other, the tiebreaker would be win-loss percentage amongst the three teams. Texas went 2-4, Arkansas went 4-2 and LSU went 3-3. In that case, Arkansas would get the 1 seed, LSU the 2 and Texas the 3 seed.

Georgia is 4 games behind Texas. No chance they or anyone else catches Texas.

In other words:
Magic number is 2 vs Arkansas to stay ahead outright. 1 to tie (and lose tiebreaker)
Magic number is 1 vs LSU to stay ahead outright. 0 to tie (win tie break if Tex-LSU tied, 3rd in tiebreak if Tex-LSU-Ark tied)

Would prefer to take 2 out of 3 from Oklahoma to win outright. Then it won’t matter what Arkansas or LSU do.

With the added bonus that it helps with our overall seeding for the NCAA tournament.

I think we are pretty safe in the top 8 regardless but a strong finish to the season secures a top 3-4 seed.

Baseball is about streaks and I'm not sure I like the way we are headed going into the final stretch. I don't think the teams we've been playing the last couple of weeks are better. I don't like losing 2 series in a row. I'd like to see us turn it around and win this last one and then play smart in the SEC tournament.

So, the SEC tournament starts Tuesday am. Thus why this weekend series finale for the regular season was Thursday thru today.

Top 4 teams with double byes --- 1 Texas, 4. Vandy, 2. arkie, 3. LSU
Next 4 teams with single byes ---- 8. fake ut, 5. Georgia, 7. Ole Miss, 6. Auburn

9th seed Alabama vs. Missouri 1st game in the morning
12th seed blow u vs 13th seed Kentucky afternoon
15th seed SC vs 10th seed Florida late afternoon/early evening
14th seed aggie vs. 11th seed Miss State evening/late night

If we wins our 1st game on Thursday. Then we wait till Saturday to play the next game with the tournament title game is on Sunday.

The title game is on ESPN 2, and the rest are on SEC network.

On the Friday night pregame,
I haerd of the best ststements from Schloss, I didn't know what we had when we got here. I didn't know it during the fall and winter workouts. But I give all the credit to Tulo and Weiner and the other assistance to get these guys to buy in and trust them. We had no starters when we got here, went out and got Sanders. Grubbs was shutdown, Harrison had arm issues, and Whitehead had some type of surgery. No closer. Had to get Galvan, and Schuessler to buy in as being the veteran catcher and 1st baseman. Only had Flores, Belyeu, and Gasparino as known positiion players and bats. Hope for Winfield, Mendoza (both portal adds), not certain about a freshman 3rd baseman ( A Rod) or if Borba could handle 3rd. Borba finally showed he could handle 3rd. Most talk from fall and winter workouts was about Bryce Navarre, but very little on Volantis. Volantis might be the freshman pitcher and possibly player of the yr. There was no thought of winning the conference or being 31 games over .500 overall this yr.

When a head coach puts the credit on the assistance coaches and the players, that shows a coach that understands it isn't about him. Just think what we could be in a couple of yrs with him and his coaches knowing what they are looking for and can do for HS players and portal players. Just how much more will LSU go in NIL money to win the rankings of commits? We won't play that game with them. aggie just saw what doubling some of their own players from leaving did for them.

As good as this team is, this isn't even close to the type of roster Schloss will work to build. We've squeaked by in a lot of ways this year (something like 20+ come from behind wins) but I think future Schloss teams will look more dominant.
