The new baseball polls are out for Baseball America and D1 baseball

1. Both Texas
BA/D1 baseball
2./4. fake ut
3./5. Georgia
4./2. arkie
7./8. Auburn
8./9. LSU
11. Both Ole Miss
12./18. blow u
19. Both Vandy
21./15. Alabama

Some conference series this week:

fake ut vs. Kentucky
Georgia @ Vandy
arkie vs. aggie
LSU vs. Alabama

What should be another awesome weekend series in Austin
Texas vs. Auburn

Last year in the SEC, getting around 20 wins will get you a top 8 national seed.

Auburn will be tough this weekend, heck every weekend is tough.
Last year 20 wins, more likely was a regional host not top 8, but if it was wow.
This year more likely 35 wins or better for top 8 as currently in the top 10 the minimum is 28 wins. Top 20 to around 24 wins. That is per rankings and they will need to put 2-4 out west and even most out west are close to 25 wins already. There will be no SEC bias in seeding as it should be. But doesn't mean that the SEC won't win several regionals to make several SEC super regionals.

Last year we ended up with the top 2 class from HS behind LSU, if all accounts are correct, maybe top 3 if not. This year's class is currently the #1 class, but will need to see if any are drafted. One more resaon to like Schloss and this staff.

20 SEC conference wins*

Texas has built an impressive lead in the SEC standings with 12 games remaining. We’ve got to handle our business, especially these next two weekends but even with a 6-6 finish we would be in a good position to win the league, or finish 2nd/3rd at worst.

Arkansas, lsu and Tennessee all play each other. Tennessee also plays Vanderbilt.

We need to sweep aggy. Period.

A few notes:

Schuessler wins the SEC co-player of the week for this past week.

Jalin Flores is on the national shortstop watch list

Grubbs and Volantis are on the national pitcher of the year award watch list

We had a Ace Whitehead report on Saturday post game from Schloss. Whitehead threw is a SIM game practice last week. They will see about it again this week. If all goes well in at 1 of the last 2 Tuesday night games Ace might get a chance to throw in the game against 1 or players or maybe an inning.

Also, in the post game press conference, McCreery was to throw in the top of the 8th inning against auburn. The staff went to check on Moffett after his WP and trying to tag out tje auburn runner at home plate due to previous shoulder injury, but he seems fine.

Max Belyeu did have the stitches taken out this past week. Now on the road to recovery. No timetable on if or when he would be available. He most likely won't be an outfielder until super regionals at the earliest.

Keep in mind the top 4 in the conference get double byes and the next 4 get a single bye in the conference tournament. As the baseball tournament will be like that of the basketball tournament.

That's just stupid, even for aggy.
I get you. But I’ve definitely seen things more stupid than that from aggy. Maybe I just mean more cringe.

Sad part is that they knew where to get the swastika.

Just saw on KXAN (Austin) sports that Spencer is out for the year. 😔
Shoulder surgery, hope he comes back next year

Jonah Williams is day to day with leg injury, and Ethan Mendoza is not ready to go at 2nd base yet still having shoulder issues

Daym, I didn’t know about Williams

Spencer has no eligibility remaining. He’s a senior. It is absolutely in his best interest to get the shoulder surgery now (he gets it on Monday,) and begin rehab prior to the MLB Draft.

Williams is a tweaked hamstring. Day to day. I would imagine we will see him at some point this weekend.

Not only is Texas positioned nicely in the SEC, they are also separating from the national pack which will be beneficial when it comes time for tournament seeding.

This past week other teams in the top 10 who have taken losses:
#2 Clemson - swept by #25 NC State
#3 Oregon State - dropped first 2 to #13 Oregon
#4 Florida state - Lost to #19 Louisville
#5 Arkansas - lost to Florida
#6 Tennessee - Lost to #7 LSU
#7 LSU - Lost to Northwestern State, #6 Tennessee
#8 UNC - lost to Pitt
#9 Vanderbilt - Lost to Middle Tennessee, #23 Ole Miss twice
#10 Georgia - lost to #2 Clemson, #14 OU

That's 16 losses among the top 2--10. With every team taking at least one loss. Most of these series wrap up today so another chance to take more losses (and a definite one coming in LSU vs Tenn).

Losts of losses amongst other ranked teams but not going to doucment that here.

Watched Jonah Williams run up to Right Field wall and back yesterday. Thought he might be loosening up to come in. I don’t think they play him today and let him heal up for Arkansas.

What is word on Max Belyeu ? I have seen speculation he could be ready by SEC tourney or NCAA tournament.
