2024-2025 Transfer Portal Thread

I think the issue is spring enrollment.. for sure it's crazy in a situation like this. Each school has it's own spring enrollment dates, but by January 20th when the final game is played the spring semester is already in full swing, so it would be tough to start the portal process at that point.
Agreed.

Maleek (last year) and Blue (if rumors are true) are no small losses going into the playoffs.

I am curious if Sark will allow players to enter the portal but remain with the team.

The guys that have entered so far weren't getting any PT anyways so as long as there are not a lot of injuries at a certain position it should impact us much.

A guy like Blue, could hypothetically enter his name in the portal and remain with the team.

It does get quite tricky though if we were to make the semifinals (Jan 9-10) or finals (Jan 20). As mentioned, a transfer player would need to be enrolled at his new school by that time.

Upper classmen need to start sticking with the program. Not that young guys can't come in and contribute or even start, but the reason why teams are successful is veteran leadership and simple growth and maturity of the human body.

Tacario Davis, CB, 6-4, 190, Arizona (junior)
2024 stats: 43 tackles, 6 PBU's

Dalton Johnson, S, 5-11, 202, Arizona (junior)
2024 stats: 104 tackles, 6 PBU's, 1 sack

WInter Portal goes from – Dec. 9 to Dec. 28

Spring portal window will be open from April 16 - April 25.

I think part of the problem is the upper classmen have already fallen behind the under classmen. Akana at edge for example, not finding playing time with lots of other bodies at the position his class or lower playing instead of him with more top talent coming in as recruits.

Lazy lazy dude. Potential but zero work ethic
I gotta think that something was said by the staff to the DL for all these guys to depart. Sark and Baker have to have a plan in place right now. I wonder if Broughton is gonna use his COVID year and come back to improve his draft status next year.

Sydir was more than a bust....he was a drain on the program. All that dazzling potential caused the staff to devote more time to him than he deserved......good luck and good riddance

These are positions I wouldn't think we needed portal players. Where's the beef!?

I think this is a lesson learned and recruits have the opportunity to learn from someone else's mistake.

Being a super stud in high school doesn't mean anything at the next level. If you want to play, you have to put in the work.

Few high school studs learn anything. On this team we had two cases that had guys could learn from.....

Taffe and AJ Cook.....and Sydir as well... One lowly regarded, and Two highly so....which of those ( ok it is 3... Sue me) would you have projected as a star?

The Longhorns return to practice today in preparation for next week's CFP Round One game. They will host Purdue TE Max Klare who entered the portal.

Klare suffered a non-contact injury against Illinois and missed the last seven games of the season. He returned this year to have an extremely productive year, catching passes from former UT QB Hudson Card. He led the Boilermakers in receiving yards with 685 on 51 receptions.

Texas loses both Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis after this season and a capable TE is a priority for the staff.

Klare will fit the Helm role. He isn't a great blocker, PFF graded slightly worse than Helm on run blocking, slightly better in pass pro but he is a TE who can catch a ball and pick up some YAC.
