I know kids have to enroll in January, but it seems weird that kids would transfer while your team is in the playoffs. I honestly wish there was only one window for the portal in the Spring. When does the increased scholarship limit go into effect?

It was actually a good thing to part ways with Johntay Cook. Keep hearing he was a bad influence in the locker room and am now hearing (Burton, today) that programs aren't really paying him much attention now that he's in the portal.

Johntay has tons of potential. But he's going to have to stop the "shenannigans" to get another school to want him.

Yea I read something earlier about his toxic social media posts trashing the coaches and Texas.

I was a huge fan of the kid but he needs to grow up some by the sounds of it.

Any wish lists yet from who’s already in the portal? I know absolutely nothing, but in my uninformed opinion:

RB (1) - Ahmed Hardy, short, stocky, powerful

WR (1) - a big receiver like Dane Key or Nic Anderson. I know Sark likes clones, but I wouldn’t mind a change up

TE (1) - in the Gunnar Helm mold. Big enough to effectively block on the line, but can also catch and get you 10 yards.

DL (2-3) - At least one difference maker and a couple rotation guys.

LB (1?) - depth if we’re worried about it

DB (1) - someone with experience and production. We are going to be young at safety and nickel - especially if Taafe goes. I’d take another Mukuba please.

K and P - preferably guys with both a right and left leg

Does he have the option of waiting until after the CFP? I would like to see him finish out the season. He's earned it.

As long as the portal doesn't close before we're done. We could potentially play through Jan. 20. I'm not sure when the portal closes.

The portal is open through December 28th. So he can play In the Game against Clemson on the 21st, but if Texas advances and he decides to play in the quarter finals then he wouldn't be able to enter the portal until April 16th.

Seems like a bad deal either way, either miss a playoff run where he may be needed, or miss soring football at his new school.

We have Arch for 1-2 years. We need to go all-in on getting him the support he needs to win.

He is ready to take us to a championship now. For next year, get that O-line fixed. Find a reliable blocking TE. Load back up on defense.

We have to win a natty at least 1-2x between having been blessed with Ewers and Manning.

Is someone else going to teach him how to hold the ball and block better?

That’s all he needs to be a real difference maker here or anywhere else. It’s also what he needs to do to play on Sunday.

Given his speed and catching ability, he will always have an opportunity on our team bc it’s such a versatile skillset. But I get it, we are loaded and some smaller program or other program with bigger RB needs will let him start.

I think the issue is spring enrollment.. for sure it's crazy in a situation like this. Each school has it's own spring enrollment dates, but by January 20th when the final game is played the spring semester is already in full swing, so it would be tough to start the portal process at that point.
