2024-2025 Transfer Portal Thread

Texas hosting this WR transfer from Stanford. Played mostly in the slot, similar size as Deandre Moore. Not super fast. I could see him in a similar role to Moore. Had 42 catches and 500+ yard for a bad Stanford team.

Should note, he is in the portal and available to recruit prior to any other WRs because Stanford recently fired their head coach and those players had a 30 day portal window. The portal opens for all teams on 4/16 and we will likely hear about more WRs at that time.

With AD Mitchel, Bond and Golden, Texas has certainly demonstrated that they are an attractive destination for top recievers looking to tranfer.
With Arch as the QB I would think Texas would be the #1 choice for any top portal reciever.

As your post implies, I think they slow play this recruitment, and wait and see what other recievers become available.

Stanford WR has 3 yrs remaining so he may also fit a different category of transfer WR compared to a 1 year rental like Mitchell, Bond and Golden. If we do take him. I'd also expect us to look for an Isaiah Bond like speed demon WR for this next season.

Wouldn't Wingo be considered a speed demon WR for us?

Wow,

"Nico Iamaleava and Tennessee appear to be going their seperate ways."

He may be able to find a program that will give him more money, but I suspect in the long run this will cost him more in future earnings then any additional NIL he gets this year.

Quite the contrast between Nico and Arch.

I think this is going to be happening a lot more, when you have players concentrate on the short term gain versus long term benefit. Luckily, it doesn’t appear UT is playing that game with who they recruit. I also think this will eventually be the leading cause of contracts.

He is not worth $4 mil a year. He has done not much more than be average.

He signed a contract. He stopped honoring the contract. Just as wrong as Tennessee deciding they'll not pay him anymore, before the contract was up.

Yep, I think players having contracts with schools is needed.

Nico had no NIL contracts that stipulate he play football at Tennessee. One of the few regulations around NIL is that it can't be pay for play.

And that is part of the problem. These guys are essentially free agents at all times.

From CTJ

OU is really putting in some work on the development end under Venables. This dude (Mitchell) was a 5 star who reclassified and was still a highly rated 4 star. He got to campus and immediately exploded north of 275 lbs and disappeared into the garbage pile at TE.

I’m interested in seeing what happens with Fasusi.

Stone’s allegedly “flashing” this spring.

They’re defaulting to having to play the Edge guy who was heralded and been an absolute bust so far.

Peyton Bowen isn’t lighting the place on fire. The Tatum guy has been hurt or middling so far at TB. Arnold flamed out hilariously. Kanak is now a TE.

I know I’m missing a few but the results look like Texas results in talent development from 2010-2021.

Sark comments on Maalik Murphy

Mind bogling amount Duke is paying for Maalik's replacement.

This may be part of why Nico was restless making 2.3 million.

"The arrival of Tulane transfer quarterback Darian Mensah, who reportedly signed a two-year, $8 million NIL deal with the Blue Devils, essentially forced Murphy to look for a starting job elsewhere."

I hope Maalik does well at Oregon State. That seems like crazy money for a QB at Duke, but if someone is willing to pay, can't blame Mensah for taking it.
