GAME THREAD: Texas Longhorns @ West Virginia Mountaineers

Who is in charge of defense? Doubt if it is the assistants. .A lot is just menever liked  three man DL. Got to get better maybein spring practice.

So just a little of Bo Davis resume include stints at

Bama

Miami Dolphins

Jacksonville Jaguars

Detroit Lions

Won multiple National championships and he is the problem?  Help me understand the logic here.  Our defensive Line is pathetic so it must be the coach right?

I dont know what to say

I’m in shock

but there no question that the coaching staff has not done a good job, including the head coach

in my opinion Sark must dramatically turn the program around next season or be counted a failure and be shown the door

and by turn around I mean 9 wins minimum

This season is a total embarrassment of losses, laughing players, pole dancing monkeys and all the rest

I say its all Johnny Depp's fault. lol He keeps posting about firing Sark and its got the players upset and distracted. lol

We have a lot going against us right now. Our depth is depleted. We have one offensive star left but have a hard time getting him the ball. The QB of our future is not on the roster right now. Our defense is borderline "Assisted Offense." We have Big 12 refs who hate us. We're a circled game on everybody's schedule. We have the worst OL in UT history. Our talent pool is decimated from the 18-19 classes. And despite how poorly we're doing, we still have some Hollywood attitudes on the team.

I'm sure we'll lose again next week, it wouldn't surprise me. The only good thing about not going to a bowl is that we won't have to wait to blow the thing up.

For clarity I am not advocating for Sark or Pk to be fired.  Just like with any job there has to be accountability.   I do believe that something with the defensive assistant coaches needs to be done.
Fired?   No

but the entire coaching belongs on the hot seat

no excuses for them

I’m not in a forgiving mood today

although I agree with all the points you make the sum of those parts does not add up to 6 straight losses

Here is my issue with this.  Lets just talk assistants.  So Bo and Flood who have won NC at Bama and put kids into the NFL suddenly forgot how to be assistant coaches once they landed in Austin?  I would love to know the turnover rate with our coaching staff the last 10 years.  Any coach better f##king win their first year or get the F@#K out.  Come on.  Yea im I f##king tired of seeing 2 deep?  F@#K yea I am.  But maybe there are other reason beyond our hornsports forum pay grade.  Maybe the players have already just said screw it.  Is it the coaches responsibility?  Yes it is but there are so many issues just from a basic fundamental aspect of this team.  Its not like Sark and staff have coached these kids since day one.  Some of the worst players have been here 4 years.  Why is that?

What do we do?  We blame the coaches who came from a Bama dynasty...thats just fkn ridiculous.  Sark isnt innocent and PK should be forced to answer why he insists on this 2 deep when it hasnt worked but THE PLAYERS do not execute the simplest things.
Don’t disagree with any of this and absolutely lay a LOT on the players and previous regimes. Also, not advocating any staff changes as I believe most if not all are still quality coaches. That said, I bought into the hype of the new staff and none have lived up to expectations. Granted,  my expectations were too high but this was as close to a dream team staff as I’ve seen on the 40 Acres in quite a while. All of that makes me wonder if Texas has become the school where really good coaching careers fo to die or at least become comatose?

That’s rhetorical btw and doesn’t require an answer.

Maybe I havent been paying attention the last 11 years but isnt this an annual occurrence of our coaches?

So we are going to keep doing the same thing?  I wonder what you would have said about Rhule when he went 1-11 or Aranda last year when Baylor was 2-7.

How the F@#K are we ever going to know if we dont give the coaches time.  We have tried replacing coaches every 3 years and we are still in the same shitshow now as we were in 2011.  Our talent and depth is non existent.

So whats the big plan?  Fire and redo again.  Whether Sark is going to turn it around or not.  Who knows?  I wonder what the turnover rate of staff is here.  I am sure its a lot higher than every 3 years on average as it is with HC

Last point on the roster (for now). With all do respect to Hudson and his dad (Johnny), we can add questionable QB recruiting and development to the same on the OL, DBs, and LBs over the past decade.

This is worse than 2010. Hell, it's worse that the Charlie Strong blip.

The QB that will bring Texas back isn't on the roster yet.

The defensive staff needs to be overhauled.

Some players need to have their asses kicked to the curb.

Why give K-Rob only 9 touches when he's averaging 12.3?

I want Texas to win Big 12, SEC and National Championships Asap. I think this HC can't do any of that.

Zero f**ks given about staff or player turnover. Get it done or goodbye, 2 years leash max. 3 if you show SERIOUS progress, like contending for titles down to the last game.

"Why give K-Rob only 9 touches when he's averaging 12.3?"

Because only 7 of his 9 runs went for 5 yards or more. The other two went for only 3 and 4 yards. Had he gained more on those 2 carries, it might have gotten him a few more carries in the game instead of being limited to 9 carries. After all, if you take away his 49 yard run, he only averaged a pretty paltry 7.75 yards per carry.

Probably not the real reason but that's all I could come up with.

I'm all for getting off the Fire Coach A, Hire Coach B...  oh wait, Coach B sucks, so Fire Coach B, hire Coach C... oh wait...  Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Yes, 4-8 or 5-7 absolutely sucks, but hopefully Sark can get his guys and get this thing turned around soon.
I’m with you.  Don’t fire anyone.

Because I think it’s all on the players?  No.  Because I think this staff will turn things around?  No. Because I think rebuilding takes 4 years?  No.

Because this crazy train has to stop.  Maybe there’s something to learn from laying in bed after you defecate in it.

We just haven’t improved each week.  That’s what I said with Strong, Herman and now Sark………just show improvement week to week.  It’s not just one thing and we fix that and we are a playoff team.  Need to look at EVERYTHING this off-season. I would start with strength and conditioning.  Do we have the right guy.  I’m talking about one of the top guys in the country. Do we have that?  We know there is going to be player turnover.  Sark is out of a bowl game so he needs to be on the plane or the helicopter everyday from now to first signing day.  Same with his assistants.  Evaluate every guy that goes into the portal.  Can any of those guys come in and help immediately?  If yes get them.  Is there any Coach out there that could help?  If yes get them.  Analysts or whatever just get them.
Sark needs to show improvement next year.  Do anything it takes to improve this roster.  CDC will back whatever he needs.  We’re going to the SEC so this can’t take years.

I thought I made it clear that I am

not calling for the coaching staff to be fired - this year

But neither am I accepting any hard luck excuses for them either.

Sark inherited a 8-4 team that won a bowl game

and the team has gone backwards under him

thats not acceptable

the players are obviously part of the problem but its not entirely their fault

K-Rob should have been getting more touches all year

and thats on Sark

7.7 yards per carry is very respectable

better than Bijan Robinson
