Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Tom Herman needs to be careful. He's making some assumptions in this article. It seems he's close to stereotyping his fan base. Intimating that Texas Longhorn fathers need to allow their daughters to marry football players just because they are good on the field is ridiculous.
I think his point is more that Fathers do not need to prohibit their daughters from marrying football players just because they are black. A point I completely agree with.

Yes, I do. Lawrence is still making freshman mistakes from time to time. His play looks better than it actually is because of his surrounding talent. No mistake, he's a fine QB. Ehlinger was good when Texas wasn't. Lawrence will never be able to say that.

Justin Fields, same story. His play is enhanced by his team. IMO, Fields is better than Lawrence and certainly better than the QB he played under at Georgia. But Ehlinger runs just as well and throws twice as well as Fields.
So you’re telling me you would draft Sam over
the other two. I’ve watched the all play. And I think Sam makes plenty of mistakes even now. Texas on offense wasn’t very good last year in the stretch of losses that hurt.  And Sam was part of the badness. He had decent offensive line play in all but one of the games and his receivers were pretty good. He may have been hurt but he didn’t play well.

I am not passing over Sam's mistakes and questionable decisions, but he has never had the luxury of clean pockets and open receivers, and a dangerous running game to keep the defense honest. My kool aide tells me that Sam might show some awesome play this year with weapons and scheme he never had before. I think the new coordinators will make a "sea change" difference.

You must have a large supply of orange kool-aid and drinking that stuff down. The NFL is drooling for Lawrence. They are not drooling for Sam.

Sam does not throw twice as wells as Fields. There is not a college coach that would take Sam over Lawrence or Fields.

College football quarterback tiers: Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence in a league of their own

No, no supply of orange Kool aid.

I don't think you have a clue what the NFL is drooling over. Outside of his feminine hairdo, what else is there to like about the tall lanky one? He certainly doesn't run as well as Sam. Sam is more accurate in passing. And yes, I think his arm is stronger.

Sorry all that pissed you off.

Todd McShay releases his top prospects for 2021 draft. Sam Cosmi comes in at #8. Hopefully he can break the 1st round streak!

I know the story talks about his time at Oregon, but why is the title "Former Oregon Coach Chip Kelly" and not "UCLA head coach Chip Kelly".  Why not use his present position?
Because most people know him from Oregon and forget he’s even there. Lol

What a slap in the face to UCLA.

Can you imagine? Former Houston coach Tom Herman . . .
