Per Texas, RB Tristian Houston (ankle), C Zach Shackelford (ankle) and RB Chris Warren (hamstring) will all miss time after being hurt Sat.

Heard shack was in crutches, hope everything is ok. I remember he had some ankle issues last year so I'm hoping it's nothing recurrent.

Injuries* and Whatnots:

RB Chris Warren – hammy
RB Tristan Houston – ankle
C Zack Shackelford – ankle
S Jason Hall and K Michael Dickson still out with hammies
OT Brandon Hodges – time off for academics

No worries at QB....

2015 walk-on QB Josh Covey could be the answer.

“Covey might actually be a better option right now at third-string quarterback than Jerrod. The kid can run a little bit and he’s thrown the ball pretty well.†– Tom Herman

This just tells me that Coach doesn't think Jerrod can throw the ball, because we know he can run.

Yesterday, the coaching staff started something new. At the team meeting they presented an award to the "Freaks of the Week." Evidently, the FOW will be given to one player on each side of the ball every week throughout the Spring. The first winners were Shane Buechele and Poona Ford, otherwise known as Boo 'n Poo.

Finding Points

A recent E$PN article stated that the 2016 'Horns produced 0 (zero, zippo, zilch) non-offensive touchdowns. None, nada, nil by either the defense or special teams.

When this was mentioned to Herman at his last PC, his response was, "Wow."

Only five other teams managed to match Texas' dubious distinction. Combined, all six teams produced an 18-54 record with none appearing in a bowl game.

The article mentions some possible causes for the team's bankruptcy such as player uncertainty, cautiousness, fatigue, doubt, etc. as offered by both Herman and Orlando.

The good news is that the two years those two coaches were at Houston, the Cougars' D and STs racked up 13 TDs and ranked #5 nationally in this category. So, it appears the Longhorns will be finding extra sixes in the near future.
