2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

White knuckle time?

Burton says, according to some people at the Army game, Auburn is making a VERY strong push in the last 24 hours since their season has officially ended for Tim Irvin.  Specifically now, Tavares Robinson can communicate directly with Tim, who is close to Robinson.

Burton -- "We'll see how it goes tomorrow, but after the conversation I just had with someone close to the situation, I no longer feel like it's the slam dunk I did just a few hours ago."

A stretch, IMO. He hasn't had an OV to Auburn and is out of OVs to use. I don't see a flip in a 24-hr span.

^^^^ Hager needs to be living in a Burnt Orange House...have faith, there will be a place for him one way or the other!!!

I think CFS is zeroing in on a TOP 5 Recruiting Class!!!

They say that Irvin and TRob are not just close, but "very, very close."

But, yeah, Burton gets it wrong alot.

Also, Irvin is an EE so its hard to see Auburn having the time to work all that out.

He said Wheeler to OU this morning.

I said Wheeler to Texas last night.

So there's that.

Technically, I think Robinson still works for Florida. So he's recruiting for Auburn now though he's about to coach a bowl? I mean I know it's the SEC and all, but isn't this the dead period?

Just FYi, I'm hearing some people on different boards say we have figured out a way to add 34 this year instead of 31. If that's the case, Charlie will almost have replaced half the team in one off-season
The max number of football players is 105.  Out of the 105, 85 can be on football scholarship.  The remaining can be made up of walk-ons.

Not sure what they are doing.  Maybe they found some kids like Ricky Williams.  I believe the Phillies paid for his education at Texas but I could be wrong on this.

you know what? I dont mean no disrespect but you know the thing what bothers me the most is that I or we hear reports from different sources and we dont know which is true or which is accurrate thats the thing what bothers me about all of this....and yes sirhorns you were dead on about wheeler

I'll be surprised if Strong takes more than 30-31. Taking a class like 34 creates issues long-term.

Since everything I've seen indicates Strong is building for sustained success (as opposed to a run in 2015), I can't see him taking guys this year when it can create logjams and playing time issues down the road. He wants to haul it next year too and my feeling is he won't overdo it this year at the risk of next year.

I got this from Wikipedia, so I'm not sure how accurate it is.  Plus, I thought the NCAA put a stop to oversigning.

NCAA Bylaw 15.5.6.1 limits FBS football programs to a total number of scholarships to 85 "counters" annually including 25 scholarships for "initial counters." Counters (NCAA Bylaw 15.02.3) are individuals who are receiving institutional financial aid that is countable against the aid limitations in a sport, initial counters (NCAA Bylaw 15.02.3.1) are individuals who are receiving countable financial aid in a sport for the first time. Bylaw 13.9.2.3 limits schools to signing 28 NLI from initial signing day through May 31.[1]

The Big12 might have additional rules on this.

I'm betting Hager eventually winds up as a DE after a redshirt next season. I can see him adding 30-35 pounds of head-banging muscle on that frame over the next year.

Hmm I wonder if the "signing 28 NLI from initial signing day through May 31" plus the 6 EE that count for last year's totat is where they're getting the 34 number unless they have figured out a creative way to add the extra 3.

That's a very good point. My feeling is he sees this team having very little depth and quality right now so he's just signing as many good players that he think will buy in to his philosophy. A year or two down the road if he has some players that want to transfer because they aren't getting the playing time they want then so be it.

If they sign 34, then I would think 6 count in the 2014 class and 28 count towards the 2015 class.  The limit is still 85 scholarships per year for your roster. More than likely, some people would be moving on to other oppurtunities.

It's interesting and I'm sure they have a plan on paper.

Possible landing spots for Newsome?

— Twitter API (@twitterapi) November 7, 2011

edit, OK, Newsome took down his tweet.  I guess he didnt feel like dealing with all the responses.  Basically, he noted UT (of the ugly orange) winning and UCLA winning for now.  And called  that  "a good day."  And then said that was all he had to say about it.  Something like that

Juan, the 2014 offense would not run past Buda on a good day., much less Mexico.

Run for the Buda has a nice ring to it

I could see Mack Brown using it as a slogan some day

Maybe we should file for a trademark now?

You may be correct, however my guess is that if CS can take 34 then he will take 34. Coach Strong's  first full recruiting class at Louisville, the Teddy Bridgewater class  was the core that turned around the Cardinals.

As Diggs has said we currently have players on the team that doesn't care that much. So, I believe Coach Strong would like to get as many of his guys (players that really want to win) as soon as possible.
