2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Per Tfloss at spurstalk

Something to keep an eye on...I was browsing the Scout board and there was a post asking about the status of RB Jordan Cronkrite from Palmetto Bay, FL. Anyway, a mod came on and said Texas will not have room if they land a certain surprise commitment in the next 24-36 hours.

Suggested he might be talking about Brossette

Here is a blurb about Cronkite from earlier

"He told me he wants to build a relationship," Cronkrite said of Strong. "Texas is a great program. They want to me on campus as soon as possible. I'm going to talk about it with my parents."

Davis' teammate

After finishing as the runner up in their class in the Florida high school championship in 2011, their school (Booker T.) won state the next 3 years in a row.

If you take a look at Davis' twitter timeline, he has a ton of congrats from his teammates after his announcment - shows he's a leader, admired and well-liked.

Here is what Davis tweeted earlier about his team

Warren makes the most sense to me, but I am not sure he would be what they would consider a "surprise commitment."

i think we can get a speed back next year bc we do need one to compliment the 2, maybe 3, maybe 4 we will have in February.

Having a weekly catch-all thread in addition to threads on individual recruits is a plan based on that feedback?

That makes it more curious, IMO. You already have 20 threads on Page 1 that are not recruiting related. You have 14 more targets (perhaps 15 with that Miami RB now) that would each get a thread? And then top that off with a catch all thread?

Isn't this a catch all thread?

And if so, why create more of them when one suffices?

I don't mind going along if there's good reason. And if it's something I'm not seeing, feel free to PM me whats up. I think most here, like the gentlemen above who put it so eloquently, are willing to help HS in any way we can. If multiple threads helps HS in some way, then I might be more inclined to do it.

Carolina CB Mark Fields say he will not visit Texas but will keep Texas in his top 5. Says his relationship with strong/rumph is strong enough. He will take two visits in January.

I could be wrong but without an OV, not sure this is happening.
I would tend to agree. When I heard this one of my first thoughts was that CS had told him they will not have room for him. It might not be reality but, there just aren't that many seats left at the table.

Reminder, we have at least 3 announcements of note in the next 48 hours

(maybe more)

Wheeler will announce live at the UA Game tommorow (begins at 3 pm ESPN2)

Irvin and Clarington will announce live at the Army AA Game on Saturday (begins at noon NBC)

here are a couple recent notes from OB at the UA practices about some of the RBs --

Nicholas Brossette looked like a one-cut, power back that is at his best when he uses his size and strength to his advantage.

Soso Jamabo didn't really have any room to operate as a running back, and didn't really turn any heads as a pass-catcher. His talent and skill-set are undeniable, but I left Orlando a tad underwhelmed.

Ronald Jones made the most plays of any running back the first two days. My money is on Jones ending up at USC.

----------------------------------------------

also note -- the 247 guy at the workouts has been blown away by Brossette (good combo of size, speed, vision and balance, power -- ability to make himself small.  Good agility and a good stiff-arm.  Also good acceleration and a nice stutter-step)

-------------------------------------------------

also from IT regarding the Higdon surprise--

"I know there have been some speculation and rumors etc....about RB Nicholas Brossette about possibly flipping to Texas today but do not expect that to happen....He never said that so not sure where that is coming from...

The key is the site has a lot of readers compared to posters. The simple fact is that lots of those readers desire recruiting information...and a 172-page thread is intimidating.

This doesn't have to be complicated and shouldn't diminish anyone's enjoyment of the site. Seems to me that the progression is:

1. Have a weekly recruiting thread

2. As an individual prospect gets close to a decision, a thread could be started on that prospect (instead of putting tons of frequent updates in the weekly thread on said prospect)

3. Once a recruit commits and there is an announcement thread, commitment story, or scouting report, then updates for that player should funnel to one of those threads instead of the weekly thread

It's not a significantly different convention than the one used now other than starting weekly threads instead of a yearly thread. And once a thread on an individual player is started, it should be an easy place for everyone to go to get information on that player.

note on Irvin via OB

A non-Texas school that was heavy on Irvin believes that it is down to Texas and Auburn.

Nothing official, but that school believes that Texas will win.

More on Irvin -- this is from a Miami Board (sort of sounds like the above^, but uncertain of that)

**This might be tough for Canes fans to swallow. From everything I have been told on Tim Irvin, his heart is in Miami, but it is unlikely he winds up here. Multiple people around the Westminster program tell me that Texas and Auburn are basically his final 2 with Miami on the outside looking in. As I've posted on here a few times, Irvin's biggest question about Miami is his potential position coach Paul Williams.
