1-I saw substantial improvement on the offensive side of the ball. Swoopes still makes some dumb decisions but I saw him do some things today that I haven't seen. Like stepping up in the pocket, finding check downs, and running to the open spot when nothing is there.

2-Texas needs to run a little more uptempo and read option. Swoopes looks very comfortable in that offense.

3-The next step for the offensive line is progressing in terms of the penalties. If we eliminate half the holds and false starts we win that game.

4-Special teams has sucked, but I can't blame the special teams coordinator on the kickoff return. Two guys for Texas fell down in the middle of the field which created a wide open lane.

5-IMO 3 of the 4 best defenders today were young guys. Hall (FR), Hughes (SO), Ridgeway (SO).

6-Bedford is a very good defensive coordinator. If you give him some depth, our defense will be pretty damn good.

7-All I want to see is progress. We aren't going to win much this year with how many players we have lost. It's all about developing for the future. I like that Strong is utilizing some of the players like Leonard now on the offense.

8-Steve Edmond is too inconsistent. Out of position entirely too much.

9-The offensive line actually wasn't horrible today (minus the billion penalties).

10-I honestly haven't figured out if Swoopes is the guy or not. He really hasn't been horrible other than the Baylor game. If he was a junior I might say he isn't the guy, but I still think he's young. I'll have to wait and see how it plays out I guess. He looked damn good running the read option in hurry up, maybe Watson found something.

I think you are on the right track, but.....

It looked like the light finally came on for Swoopes in this game. We will have to wait and see.

On the plays where Edmond was supposed to cover the back out of the backfield, OU picked him most of the time. And they ray a play where he was positioned afte rthe motioned the back he was resposible, so he was not really out of position. Some real good plays by OU, IMHO.

They need to make one person responsible for special teams....Bedford if he has the time. That is the weakest part.

A lot of the offensive penalties are a result of inexperience and trying too hard. That should get better.

It takes too long to get the plays to the offense.

Our defense is playing at a championship level, the offense is improving with a good way to go.

We need more speed at wide receiver.

I thought the kids did very well under the circumstances. The last two games we have shown we can compete with the best. Now we need to eliminate the stupid mistakes.

We have a shot at winning any game left on our schedule if the kids will play with the same effort we saw today.

the delays-of-game and the timeouts wasted to avoid even more were maddening.

yes we need some speed at WR or anywhere. Daje would have been nice today.

steve edmond is the black blake gideon. he makes some plays, he doesn't make some plays. he is what he is but our fans zero in on him for some reason. very gideon-esque.

we played hard for 60 minutes and didn't quit when we fell behind 31-13. we've had recent teams that DID quit. that's progress.

When we went down 31-13, it had all the makings of a blowout coming.  The team fought back.  Not happy we lost, but did see a lot of improvements out there today.  As long as folks realize this is a work-in-progress and look long-term, they'll be fine.  If you're expecting immediate Ws and results, well, you're probably going to need to invest in a distillery.

The other thing I've noticed about Bedford is he plays a lot of mind games before the snap. I can't recall us moving the LBs and DBs so much before the ball is snapped. I'm going to watch the Baylor and OU games again, but both QBs audibled out of the initial play a good bit. The way he disguises the defense while forcing the offense to check out of the initial play is impressive. Like Bedford says, "he likes to set the tone".

We are still having problems at center. I think two of the false starts were caused by the snap being a half second late. And of course the rocket snap off of swoops facemask down near the goal-line that may have cost us four points. Losing Espinoza was obviously a huge loss.

My thoughts are Charlie Strong and the offensive staff should've already had a 2-point PAT ready when we made the score 31-26, the special teams still need improvement, and Tyrone needs to keep the ball more often on the zone read.

But, I was proud of the way we fought this game.  Nobody gave up once we got down 31-13.

I think they did. Watson said the headset went out on the 2 point PAT. I just don't think they could get the play relayed.

Not to mention at least a half dozen low snaps that cost Swoopes a second to scoop up. The little things man...

Yeah, but Raulerson was still getting whipped at the point of attack.  He needs to put on another 20 lbs.  Doyle played well outside of a few bad snaps.

He'll get that cleaned up with more reps.

I agree to a point on all but one ....# 6...If we had Robinson as our DC, we WIN this game. Bedford's second half defense sucks ***. In some games this year they had an excuse ( tired, demoralized by inept offense, etc... ) Today it was all on them. Game after game they have caved in the 3rd qtr. That is on Bedford.
